Now someone tell me what cufflinks are for, or those $70-100 clips that clip onto ties. They're even more expensive than the tie itself! I've rarely ever seen them worn.

I can't verify this, but I was always under the impression that studs and cuff links are still around from when they didn't put buttons on shirts, so they had to add them later. It's a lot easier to put holes in clothes than it is to sew buttons on to them as well. Cuff links are more of a tradition now than anything and are not "necessary", but for very formal attire, I think they look pretty snazzy!

I wear socks only when I have to, and where I am, the temp hasn't been above freezing in nearly 3 weeks. Socks are invaluable. And I'm glad they haven't made the inside of shoes more like a sock, you'd have to wash your shoes every day! They could design a shoe to do this, but I don't think it would survive being washed every day for very long. Unless, they made that liner detachable and lots of them so they could be changed out daily. And then we can patent them and call them socks!!

I like to wear socks mostly around the house. I put on sandals when I'm in the garden. Anybody here remember when you would socks as a birthday present? Happy days.;)

Amen. :) Dry feet are absolutely necessary for comfort. My family can attest to how I howl when someone spills or drips something on the kitchen floor, and I step in it.

Hint to your family: there is always YouTube. ;)
