In Canada we say either "pop" or "soft drink". I don't think I've ever called them "soda". When you say "soda" I think of club soda, which is disgusting :p

Anywhere I've lived in Canada, it's been 'pop'. But I've not lived east of Ontario, so things may be different in La Belle Province and the Atlantic Provinces.

Soda is something you add a splash of to Scotch. If you're a heathen.

Oh I forgot about coke, my bad I guess we can assume that other basically means coke ahaha

No, as others have added to the list already.

I think I tend to say "soft drink" but that's not real specific, as pointed out above. Maybe "carbonated beverage" would get closer, but that's still too long.

I never use "pop" or "soda" but might occasionally blurt out "coke" (but never "Coke") ;)

When I lived in Pittsburgh, it was pop.
Now that I live in Maryland, it's soda.

I always used soda. Actually, now that I'm a little older, I have to ask for diet soda :p

hehe, i always hear "pop" in the midwest, "coke" in the south, and "soda" on the west coast. Pop sounds a little Leave it to Beaver.:)

If you say anything other than "soda" in St. Louis, people will look at you like you have two heads.

Awesome chart btw.

It's coke...but I'm from N.C. and the map confirms I am in the majority there.

this is what I call it

I'm in NC and it's soda, for me. referring to all sodas as "Coke" is bewildering and befuddling.

If someone asks for a Coke, I would only reply with "regular or diet"? If they wanted a Sprite and asked for a Coke, I would shake their drink up beforehand. If they asked for a Pop, I would introduce them to my father-in-law. ;)

When I lived in California, we called it soda. Same goes for Virginia where I live now. I hear the occasional "pop" or "soda-pop", but I have never heard anyone call it "Coke".
