I've got a challenge to overcome. Too much stuff, and not enough room. So it's time to weed a few things out. But I'm finding it very hard to throw away software boxes. Especially games, they have such nice box art, and the boxes are good places to store all the miscellaneous paperwork. Then again, 95% of most software boxes is wasted space. What to do? Keep or toss?

What do you do?

Aww just toss it :)

If you're questioning it, it's probably not worth keeping.
I used to keep my LEGO Island and Putt-Putt goes to the moon boxes under my bed, and it's a lot more fun without them.

At least get rid of the innards and flatten the pretty box. Takes up a lot less space that way.

Hmmmm....I never thought about flattening them. That's an intriguing idea.

I save Hardware, and most of my software, how ever iWork 05 and iLife 05 might have been put into the trah by mistake:(

I keep the hardware boxes and I've got plastic bins for the software paperwork. If I don't have room for the software boxes then they're the first to go.

I keep my boxes if I care about them enough. For example, my iLife '06 box is in my closet right now. :) The same will happen for Final Cut Express HD when I eventually buy it. And our Tiger box? Yup, still got it.

i keep most of my boxes. i don't really have any hardware boxes though. just the 360 box.

The real question is what the software coupons are for, I must have a million of them around.

According to a genius at the Apple store 2-3 years ago

Genius 1 "Hey Genius 2, what are these software coupons for?"
Genius 2 "I don't know. They've been using them for a while, but you don't really need them."

I think it is for Apple so they can reserve the right to require those coupons for updates as proof of purchase in case piracy becomes a problem.

I save mine. I can't seem to throw ANYTHING away, and some of those software boxes are just so pretty. The Adobe and Macromedia ones especially.

I bite my lip and deal - if it's something incredible or witty, i'll cut it and tape it to my wall or something, but as for manuals, most software has the exact same thing online, or even on the install disc!! I'd maybe flip through it once and toss it, i don't keep any of the boxes, software's not exactly a collecters item these days..

I keep the big boxes (Xbox360, Xbox, Nintendo and such) but software gets tossed. No point in keeping it, just takes up room and why save it?

I keep most of my boxes. Drives my family and boyfriend nuts. I already have so much clutter... hee. But I'm seriously running outta space, gonna have to start recycling some of them. Ah well.

I remember having to use one to get a CD upgrade of a version of OS X, can't remember what version though.

i think to go from 10.0->10.1... since they made that upgrade free for previous buyers. (as they realized 10.0 was worthless)
