Software for Powermac G5

    I know the G5 can run Photoshop CS4; what other software shall I get/buy for it?

    Browse the web, Photoshop, VNC, stuff like that.

    Whatever kind of software you need.

    Final Cut Studio 3 will run on a G5 with a little haxing
    Toast Titanium 10 will work
    Microsoft Office 2008
    iWork 08
    iWeb
    AppleWorks 6
    Macromedia Freehand MX
    Final Cut Express

    use either tenfourfox or stainless as a browser if you aren't already I can't recomend those enough. The most optimum version of microsoft office for the powermac g5 in my opinion is office 2004. It runs smooth on both my powermac g5 and powerbook g4.

    Thank you for the list. Is there any software that the G5 can only run but my Macbook Pro can't? It's more like the other way around though.

    Why not treat them as two different computers and enjoy each differently.

    You won't be able to run AppleWorks or Macromedia Freehand MX as both are PowerPC only. A few other that won't run would be Mac The Ripper, VCD Builder (a software application for building video CD's) and some older games like Sim City 4, Red Faction, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and Return to Castle Wolfinstein.
