Hi,

just struggling around with my mac to find a good piece of software /command line tool to find "hidden SSID/WIFI" Networks.

Something like inSSIDer - but not that expensive. ;-)

any recommendations?

Cheers
Buddy

As far as I checked istumbler and netspot do not detect hidden WIFI Networks...

NetSpot Pro support hidden SSID

"Hidden networks detected and scanned in Survey mode"

NetSpot Pro does NOT support hidden WiFi's unless you can already connect to it.

In the case of all these products that access the built-in WiFi using CoreWLAN APIs you cannot tell much about hidden SSIDs. Often it requires a USB WiFi device specifically chosen for its ability to be used for WiFi scanning abilities. Both inSSIDer and Netspot Pro have more functionality on Windows in this regard.
