hi all,

i've been having a lot of trouble with the latest security updates on my macbook lately. it downloads ok but when it comes to the install it freezes up!

anyone else had this problem? if so how do i fix it?!

are you sure it was the client intel one? i just got this error message when trying to install it..."You cannot install Security Update 2008-007 (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."

help?

If you are on Leopard (10.5.x), the update is here
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/securityupdate2008007clientleopard.html

(don't install the TIGER version - the System Requirements should be shown at the bottom of the download page).

If you happen to be on Tiger (10.4.x), get the update from
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/securityupdate2008007clientintel.html

I take it you are on Leopard and tried to apply the Tiger update (Leopard updates are generally Universal - Tiger ones are separate for PPC and Intel).

it worked! :D

thanks heaps to that bobzune, it was the first real issue i've had with my mac

cheers

I'm having the same problem on an imac as well - the java update 2 ver 1 will not install. Tried the suggestion above on the combo updater, but still the same problem. It gets to about 66% in progress and hangs there.

Would deleting java folder and then updating solve it? Any suggestions?
