i've been having a lot of trouble with the latest security updates on my macbook lately. it downloads ok but when it comes to the install it freezes up! 😕
anyone else had this problem? if so how do i fix it?!
Get the combo updater from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ for your computer (MacBook will be the Client-Intel version) and do the update. It may solve the problem.
are you sure it was the client intel one? i just got this error message when trying to install it..."You cannot install Security Update 2008-007 (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I take it you are on Leopard and tried to apply the Tiger update (Leopard updates are generally Universal - Tiger ones are separate for PPC and Intel).

I'm having the same problem on an imac as well - the java update 2 ver 1 will not install. Tried the suggestion above on the combo updater, but still the same problem. It gets to about 66% in progress and hangs there.
Would deleting java folder and then updating solve it? Any suggestions?
