Did you restart and try again? Does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?

To edit your thread title to a descriptive one, to get a knowledgable audience and help making the thread easier to find for people looking for the same information, just click on the [IMG] button on the bottom right of your original post and then click the [IMG] button below your message.

Can you post a crash report? It should be accessible from that message you got.

You click on the REPORT button, select the big junk of text, looks like this
and press CMD+C and post it in here via CND+V.
Maybe use the [IMG] button first (above the text entry field for your next post here) and paste the text between the [CODE] [/CODE] tags, thus it is easy to scroll and view.
    It looks like this:
    [CODE]Process: System Preferences [3647]
    Path: /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System Preferences
    Identifier: c.....
    [/CODE]
    which results in this:
    Code:
    Process: System Preferences [3647]
    Path: /Applications/System Preferences.app/Contents/MacOS/System Preferences
    Identifier: c.....
