I am using software update for windows on my pc. Whenever i open it, it shows there are no available updates even though i know that Safari is needs to update to 3.1.2 and iTunes to 7.7.1. any help?

takes a while as i have to download the whole program plus the update

wont work cuz as soon as i open software update, it checks for updates, then says none avaliable and exits out so i cant access the menu

You don't need to download the whole program. You can run the program and then click on the name of it on the menu bar and click on "check up for updates" or something similar. Some apps have this option in the "help" section.

Are you sure you haven't moved your apps from the Application folder or generally haven't moved them at all?

Sure there isn't anything blocking Software Update? I had a few problems with Norton, although Norton caused a whole load of other problems too.

Did you even bother to read his post? He's on a PC.

whenever i choose check for updates, it opens software update and still cant update

Check for firewall or something.

There must be on control panel (if i remember the name correct)...

In Windows Firewall, I allowed Software Update through Windows Firewall but it still wont detect any updates avaliable

do you have your programs in more than one hard drive?i'm on a mac,and i have two hard drives,my applications are spreaded on both of em,and since i moved some on the drive that doesn't have the OS files the software update won't find any available updates for my mac..

on the HD you have your OS on?
has it ever worked for you?..the software update thing..
you can still disinstall SU and re install it later, after a reboot or something, or I guess the manual updating of Safari for instance is your best solution for now..

yes it is on the same HD as Vista, it used to work but stopped working recently

how would you reinstall it as you cant individually download SU through Apple's website?

uninstall an application like quicktime, something you dont have media in, like itunes. remove the app, reboot, and download the file again, which should also install software update. if not, remove software update if possible. once you install the application again, try the newly installed software update. vista might have screwed software update.

I had the same problem on my mac book pro just now, Go to the apple os -> your home folder -> library -> caches -> the software update folder (com.apple.SoftwareUpdate) i think, -> drag the whole folder to the desktop -> reboot -> drag it back to its original spot -> It worked.

I assume youre running bootcamp with vista?
