Hey everyone,

Since getting my iPhone XS and having updated my MacBook to Mojave I can no longer connect my phone to my computer, not even to charge. I keep getting a window saying "A software update is required to connect to iPhone" But when I say to download and install it says the update isn't available. I have searched the forums and Google but have not found a solution to my problem. People have said it installed and worked for them, but for myself it doesn't work.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Using the new cable that came with the phone? Seen this problem with older cables, and switching to different one cleared things up.

I faced similar problem when I was changing contents from ip7 to XS. I had beta 12.1 on ip7 so it was requiring XS also to be with same OS. So, first I updated OS 12.1 on XS and then transfer of contents done.

I had the same problem, although using High Sierra, and the software update turned out to be related to iTunes not the phone. The solution was to reinstall iTunes and launch it with the Max already connected. You should then get the pop up to download and install the update on your computer and job done.

Yes I have the same problem. I managed to get it to connect by restarting my Mac and rebooting my phone. Luckily I don’t connect my phone to my Mac very often.
