Software Update server connection?

I'm having problems with Software Update after updating my system. First I restored a broken system to 10.5.4., downloaded the update to 10.5.8 manually, and have now just updated to Snow Leopard. Still the problem remains: when I open Software Update, I get a failure message saying that a "problem occured when communicating with the webproxy server (HTTP)". After that Software Update shuts down. Any ideas what to do?

Try creating a new network location via Network preferences, or try a different internet connection.
