Unless they're specifically in the Applications folder.

I've moved some stuff (iLife, Logic Pro) into sub-folders so I can see all my applications on one grid, but the recent iDVD and iMovie updates couldn't be found until I moved them back into the default Applications folder.

Is there a way to make Software Update search sub-folders too, or do I have to just keep checking MacRumors for whenever an update is available?

yeah I noticed this, unless the app's in the app's folder it doesn't update it with software update,
unsure if there is a way round this

You can download a widget called "App Update".It searches for updates for all your apps. It's free and it also checks automatically two or three different pages for updates.

But you will still need to do software update from the menu bar because that widget doesn't search for updates released by apple...I think...You know...Serious stuff...

Check it out!
