I sold my MBP to a friend, and since he updated it to Mountain Lion, it seems to be authorised on my iTunes account and all associated with it, iMessage, iCloud etc.

Is there a way I can change this without having to remote wipe the MBP or having to trust that he is actually doing it?

I guess I could do that.

Here goes... only thing is, it will still show them as being on my account.

In iTunes, go to Store->View My Account

Under "Computer Authorizations" click "Deauthorize all" to remove all authorized computers from your iTunes account. You can then go and re-authorize the ones you're still using.

I have used the deauth all in the last year, and when I try and log a support call about it, I am greeted with an auto-closed call due to support on my machines being unavailable as they are past their initial support period...

Going to have to call them in the morning...

Note that having that computer authorized does not mean it can download or purchase anything from the iTunes store using your account. The password to your iTunes account is required for that.

It just means that any of your iTunes content already on the computer will still be playable on that computer. No big deal, IMO, unless you've run out of your 5 allowed authorized computers.

For some reason though, when I make changes on my iPad or MBA, I am getting alerts on my iPad and iPhone that this MBP I sold, is also receiving these changes, such as iMessage etc...
