I sold my iPad Air a week ago on eBay in anticipation for the next release. I usually upgrade my iPad every two years so it holds some decent resale value and I like to have the latest form factor. This year I should've listened to the rumors about the minor upgrade and kept my Air. I just can't justify paying an extra $100 for features I won't even use. Anyone else in the same boat? What's my best place to find an affordable iPad Air 2?

I have an iPad Air 2 that Im trying to sell so I can get the new one..its a 64GB Wifi in gold if you are interested let me know..tried craigslist but so far no takers

I also would like to upgrade from my original iPad Air... I don't have any need for the keyboard as I have a rMB but I really want the 4 speakers and faster processor ..I just can't get past the $600 price point especially with only 2GB of RAM.

Is the iPad Pro line going to take over the Air line or is it completely new product line? Will there be future updates to the Air? If so they would have to leave out the features found on the Pro, right?

If you don't need/want the new features, or don't want to pay as much, then the air two is the choice.

I guess it all depends on your different uses and each individual's lifestyle.

I have an iPad Air that was very utilized over the lasr 2 ½ years. And I am upgrading to the new iPad pro (Air will be handed down). Here's why:

A) more, faster storage (128Gb vs 32Gb): more apps, movie storage, etc everyone is forgetting iPad Pro significant gains in storage speed
B) better "communications": wifi ac vs n, blue 4.2, LTE advance + more bands, embedded SIM: my home network is all AC now, I do travel quite often
C) significant more horsepower (2.4x cpu, 4.5 gpu): Air did not have an X soc from Apple (just A7), even iPhone 6 (A8) has more horsepower
D) better cameras: I use skype/FaceTime a lot so the new front camera (5mp vs 1.2mp) is huge
E) extended battery life: my battery is already at 85-88% of listed capacity, and new SOC plus new screen tech will probably add 2 hours to normal utilization

Again, each person has to determine his own cost/benefit analysis. But at $1 per day over the next 3 years, I am very happy with my upgrade choice.

I really do appreciate everyone's input, I do think this would be a nice upgrade over my Air, I guess it wouldn't be as big of a decision but $499 sounds so much better than $599

Assuming your talking about an Air 2 it's actually $399 or $340 if you get a refurb which I can say almost 99% of people on this forum would recommend.

...umm strongly disagree. First off. People on the forums need to understand that we are in the minority of people who buy these devices. A large portion of people are 50+ who want to play candy crush, e-mail and browse the web.

Other then that. I have a 16 GB Air 2 LTE and I am extremely happy with it. If it was my only device, yes I would need more, but I have a 64 GB phone and a rMBP. I don't store things on my iPad. I use it for netflix, books, a few games, and web browsing on the couch. I still have 5 GB free.

The only time I wish I had more storage is the few times I fly and I want movies on my device, but that is maybe once or twice a year so I get over it. If I really want to i'll bring my Macbook.
Funny enough, just about all of the people I personally know with a 16GB iPad are also over 50, and they're the only ones that complain about lack of storage space all of the time. So I have to help them clear up storage space and also setup a paid iCloud storage account so they can still store photos and videos of their grandkids from their cameras and whatnot. But at $499 a 64GB iPad Air 2 is a great deal. Get a movers coupon from the post office and get 10% off at Best Buy, making it $450, and it's an even better deal. The iPad Air 2 is still a great device with plenty of power, especially compared to the iPad Pro 9.7", and should get software updates for at least three more years, if not four. It's a big performance upgrade from the iPad Air, without the unneeded (for most) features of the 9.7" Pro like a fancy camera, four speakers, Apple Pencil, better display and smart connector for keyboards. Those are features that creative pros are more likely to want or need compared to an average person. But I know going from the iPad Mini 2, which had the same internals as the iPad Air, to the iPad Air 2 was a big performance jump for keeping tabs and apps loaded, minimizing crashes and stuttering, etc. Plus you also get split-screen multitasking.

Yes, that's what I'm going to do.

Both sets of my parents have them and the only space they complain about is the ******** 5 GB free iCloud. Time to bump that up to Industry standard.

And like I clearly said. It's not everyone. If they needed more there are options. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to have a base 32 Gb option but a large number of people don't need it.

Yeah iCloud is pretty ridiculously low compared to everyone else. As for options, these are all the first iPads they've ever owned, purchased over the past several years. It has made some of them unhappy with Apple, some vowing to never buy another iPad (or even Apple product) again as it's constantly popping up with messages about running out of space. I've tried to explain, but yeah, it's unfortunate that their first experience has to be that way because they just don't understand storage space. They don't realize that they never ran of space on their old laptops because they had big, cheap, slow spinning hard drives and were really bulky. I'm not sure what else they would switch to though, as they're so used to toting them around easily compared to their bulky old laptops. Android tablets are not a great solution for anyone at this point. So who knows what they'll actually upgrade to.
