I sold my 32 GB Unlocked (ATT) Space Gray 5S on Ebay earlier in the week for $420. Do not get discouraged if you don't get many bids early on. I started mine at $299 and had 15 bids on the last day, two of them in the last minute. Next year I am going to start the auction a bit earlier and have it end the day I get my new phone.

I've had no luck selling my 5S 16GB Verizon in mint condition with even a glass protector...I've even dropped the price to $380 and no bites. I may as well keep it as this point...

Ebay shoppers love lots of high quality pictures and a good description. Also seems to help to have free shipping. Make sure you have good description and clear pics and you should get your asking price.

I'm hoping for around 520 since mine has AppleCare+ until February 2016. Mint condition along with a couple matte screen protectors. Apple leather case is in decent condition.

I want to offset as much of an iPhone 6 purchase as possible

I just sold my 5s gold 64gb (att) to Apple today for $310 (I don't want to hassle with ebay, craig's list, etc.). And I got a gift card, which I'll use so that's okay. But I didn't think about the Applecare - are partial refunds possible? It's two years, right? I'm one year in.

I sold 2 iPhones on ebay once the iPhone 6 pics were leaked.

06/13/2014 -Factory Unlocked 32gb AT&T iPhone 5 A1428 AWS model with 4 months of square trade - $540

08/08/2014 -Factory Unlocked 16gb AT&T iPhone 5 A1428 AWS model with 2.5 months of square trade - $470

No idea. I want to say no though :/

I sold my 16GB Locked (AT&T) for $405 the week of the pre-order. Mine was also in mint condition. I included several cases and an extra protector.

Being unlocked is the key. It goes a lot further than extra storage capacity. Usually I can sell the year old model of the iPhone for $400-$475 cash on Craigslist as long as it's unlocked.

When you're trying to sell these things make sure to take high quality and close up photos. I notice a lot of the sellers on Craigslist and eBay take poor pictures or sometimes don't even have pictures. You have to make your phone look as good as possible as if you wanted to buy it yourself.

please dont laugh....what exactly is meant by "unlocked". My wife and I have two iphone5's that are now out of contract with att. When we get around to upgrading to the 6, i will sell the 5's on ebay. Are they considered "unlocked"?

Thanks

These phones are *locked* to the carrier via their software. For iPhones, once the carrier confirms it's unlocked then you can just wipe the phone and be done with it.

Since your phones are out of contract then AT&T will provide you with these codes for free.

Read these instruction from Apple. Do this after AT&T approves your unlock request.

For AT&T go here:

https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/termsAndCondition

Do this for each device.

Once done, then someone from T-Mobile can buy your phone and just pop-in their NanoSIM. If you know that you're selling to another AT&T user then unlocking is not necessary.

Also sold my 2 iPhone 5S Gold 32GB with Verizon the week of pre-order for $450 each. One was in mint condition and the other had a small ding on the top. I notice that it looks like Verizon phones are easier to sell as they're unlocked by default and can be used with most carriers, except Sprint. That is a big selling point for Verizon phone
