VOIP works with a data signal. Strength of the signal only matters when it's really poor. And I'm yet to see a poor data signal with a good voice signal myself.

Has anyone ever actually tried using the wifi in Starbucks for a VoIP call or Skype? I tried it once, my god it was bad, real bad, 750ms+ first hop latency routed thru Texas or something (I was in NYC). I pity the fools who rely on this for communication trying to save some chump change in the process. Hope you don't rely on this method of communication for an income... Sheesh..
