I want to sell my laptop too..I have the 2018 13 inch macbook pro 256GB..the apple store offers 560 gift card for it(It runs perfectly), so I checked out swappa and see the going rate is around 850(but people haggle it down to 750) so not sure with the shipping charges, and paypals cut, if its even worth selling it like that and worrying about whoever receives it saying its defective when its not..so not sure what to do, either way will wait til the new macbook pro is confirmed of course, then gotta format it, etc

Yea I am looking to probably taking the $1430 from apple for my MBP but i am worried once monday hits and the new MBP gets announced they will lower their prices for the trade in even more.

Is that usually how it works..when a new macbook is announced the trade in values for previous models go down? I know last yr my same macbook pro was quoted on apple trade in for around 660 now its 560..Ive never used swappa before Ive seen prices like 800+ for the same one but honestly why would anyone pay that money for a 3 yr old laptop makes no sense..so I just dont feel comfortable doing it..usually Id sell on craigslist and meet someone in person(like the local mall) but with covid and all times have changed no one is really doing that anymore..so will just trade it into the apple store..I assume the same quote online if its 560 Id get that in the form of a gift card instantly in store?

Guys this is a Community Wide Red Alert

If this release features a 120hz Mini-LED Display it’s gonna be major.

A locked in Pre-order will be the only way to secure.

i mean last year we wanted new form factor, mini led and internals change (M1X). Form factor mini led and M1X is probably it, but hopefully not setting up for disappointment hoping for 120hz as well

120HZ zealots

Gotta love em! Should be interesting here if that's not included.

I'm getting max spec 16 anyways. So if it's 120hz only on that particular model spec I'm covered. I am perfectly fine with the current 16 screen though. Don't even need 120.

One of my 4k monitors used to run at 30 hz and I only noticed when looking at screen settings. 30 hz didn't bother me in the least.

i mean i complained about the m1 air screen and honestly its great (seeing as the original air screen was flat out terrible but tolerable at the time).

Ive seen the 16 screen, they prob couldve gotten away with slightly brighter (again) and thinning out bezels some more, though i suspect theyll round it out ala ipad pros

I know there's that rumor but I would be shocked if they offered 120Hz this year. The display is already going to be mini-LED, 2x Retina and possibly 10bit color. 120Hz would be incredible, but that's a lot of new technology for a single--albeit major--refresh.
I do see what you’re saying, but on the flip side does it really make sense to have their $2400+ MacBook Pro display outclassed in such a significant way by an $1100 iPad?

Or, for that matter, even outclassed by the 2017 iPad… It’s a big tech jump, but it’s also long overdue. The iPad has had 120Hz for four years, the iPhone has it now, and it’s time to come to the Mac. And this is a perfect time to do it.

you might be atleast a month without a laptop.

with the chip shortage we don't know how short supplied they will be!
You are correct about chips. One better make sure they have a backup system they can use for a few months before selling their main system.

I just checked apple..it just dropped an additional 20 bucks, now its 540 trade in credit..yesterday it was 560 what the heck??

How should we handle trade-in at this point? I just got an estimate, but if I brought it to my local apple store today, it sounds like they still have to ship it off to verify before emailing an apple gift card. None of that would be done in time for Monday. Edit: Waiting until Monday to get the trade-in value could drop the amount as others are speculating, hence my question.

I have a back-up (also known as work) laptop for the interim, so it's up on Craigslist, but I'm not getting many bites.

2018 15" base specs

I agree they should, just doubtful they will 😉 It wouldn’t surprise me if Apple (rightfully) assumed folks would be happy enough with all of the other changes this year, and then added ProMotion as an upgrade carrot in a year or two. Really hope I’m wrong, though. These things would be incredible with that screen 🤤
