    Perhaps it means solid-state as opposed to the clickable trackpads of the other MacBooks? Or a typo :)

    No typo, they've been calling their trackpads that since 1994 with the PowerBook 500 series :)

    From the PowerBook 540c Specifications page: "Solid-state trackpad provides precise cursor control in response to the user's fingertip over its surface"
