Just a heads up, I just got my S7 and I feel my solo and braided loops fit ever so slightly looser on my 45mm S7 than on my 44mm S6. Fortunately it hasn’t really caused an issue since I had my old loops fairly tight, but if you are on the border of too loose, it might be an issue.

This makes sense because the long side of the S7 is now 1mm longer and that 1mm gets added to the circumference of the watch & band combo, so basically the loop becomes 1mm longer, and therefore looser. Something to be aware of, I see no sign that Apple has “shrunk” the sizes by 1mm each on the new bands labeled 41 or 45mm so it just basically shifts the fit.

My wife preordered a Series 7 42SS with black braided loop. We carefully used the printed tool to measure her wrist and she measured as a size 8.

Once it arrived on Friday she put it on it was a tad on the loose side. So we went to the Apple Store yesterday to try a size 7 but turns out those were slightly too tight on her. She also really wanted black, which they didn't have since they have sold out of that and it's not part of the current color collection (oddly).

Just as an experiment she tried a size 8 of another color loop that's part of the current color collection and it fit slightly more snugly than the black 8. It was pretty much spot on. That seems to validate what you're saying.

But she ultimately elected to keep the black 8 because she really wants black. It's a shame they eliminated all the neutral colors. I don't get that.

In conclusion the Series 6 braided loops, at least the black ones, are slightly different lengths than the Series 7 braided loops. Also, I find it strange that we were able to do a custom Series 7 order with a Series 6 loop that's being discontinued. It might have been a mistake that Apple even allowed people to select black. That's probably why our shipping estimate was "Jan" at first and then suddenly switch to Oct 15. In any case, it looks like black is totally gone unless they do another release. She got one of the last ones.

This explains why the size 3 black cherry braided band felt a lot tighter on my wrist than the pride braided band that I got last summer, both worn with my s5. I thought it was in my head, that I’d forgotten how tight the pride band was when I first got it.

FWIW, they do stretch out quite a bit. the smaller size might be perfect for your wife once it’s stretched.

actually what i was saying and believe, is that they have NOT changed the sizes of the loop bands even with the move to the new watch sizes. for example my size 4 (44mm) white and black loop bands are identical in size to my size 4 (45mm) starlight band. i don’t have a “new” 45mm braided band to compare to my braided 44mm bands but i bet they are also the same size. i think what your wife is experienced is that braided bands do stretch a bit over time so its likely in the store the “old” 44mm braided band was stretched a bit while the newly displayed 45mm braided band has yet to do so.

because they DIDN’T change the sizes that means loop bands will fit looser on a S7 vs. a S4-S6 watch.

Good thing I got fitted again at the Apple Store before getting the Series 7.

my 162mm wrists need a size 4 loop, the smallest available in the 45mm size. luckily it appears that it will still be tight enough with my S7, but its close. otherwise i’d have to switch back to non-loop bands and I *love* the solo and braided loops.

I have a size 4 braided loop from last year with my series 6. It has stretched some and is now a little too big with the series 7. I wear a 6 with the solo loop.

When you order an S7 with a braided loop online, if you don’t use the band size calculator, you get a warning. Maybe they’re doing this because they know sizes have shifted (either because they haven’t changed the watch bands to accommodate the larger watches, or because they have), and they really want everyone to resize. Which, then why not just tell people directly?

The warning was there long before the S7

This could actually be a problem for those wearing a size 1 like myself. My SSG 7 will arrive later this week but I have the braided single loop on right now on my AW5 40mm it fits very comfortable and not the least bit tight. Hopefully the 1 mm does not make that big of a difference but with time it will stretch I may not be able to wwear the braided single loop or any single loop since 1 is the smallest.

Actually it was the opposite for my wife. Her brand new Unstretched size 8 black band (part of the series 6 collection) fits more loosely than the in store size 8 cherry sample, which may have been stretched from try-ons.
