Silver AirPods max would pair perfectly with my aluminum MacBook Pro and iPhone and Apple Watch and iPad.
Only thing is I absolutely detest the white mesh on the headphones. They’re going to get dirty or discolored so fast and long story short there is no way I’ll purchase them with the white mesh.

I ask here cause I’m sure there must be something I’m missing here as to how I can solve this issue.

Edit: I also don’t like the white ear cups but am glad Apple allows purchasing of different colors.

There is a black silicon headband you can get...real cheap....to put on top of the mesh. My brother, whom I gifted my blue APMs to cause they got so dirty put space grey cups on and the black mesh headband. It looks cool and keeps the headphones from looking so dirty. I will say I have the space grey and it goes real well with my silver MacBook Pro and silver SS Apple Watch. I would go that route instead of getting the silver ones.

Where can I get this black silicon add on you speak of?

I get the feeling if I can’t find a solution then I’d probably go with the space gray version, even though I really do much prefer the silver. It’s just that I know these will be around my next 24/7 you know.

That’s ridiculous, these are great! Thanks!
That's not a solution. It sits on top of the mesh, but the mesh still touches your hair/skin. It'll keep it from getting easily punctured, but it won't help the bottom stay clean. It also doesn't help that the earcups get dirty super easily too. What I did was got a headband "sweater". $10 on amazon and it zips up over the headband. It looks terrible but in the house I don't care.

The AirPods Max are actually surprisingly modular. The earcups & the entire headband piece (including the mesh) can be cleanly detached from each other and swapped around at will.

If you do feel so strongly about not wanting the white headband but wanting the silver earcups, why don't you purchase AirPods Max with the headband of your choice, buy the Silver earcups separately and sell the unused original earcups to recoup some of that extra cost?

It'll keep your entire set-up native without any covers or cases on the headband (which will also add weight to an already weighty headphone) and you'll get the exact look you desire!

edit: found this 3 minute video that shows you exactly how you can detach the headband and earcups from each other

It won’t change the grey cans to silver.

It will if you buy the silver cans separately. I’ve specified that in my original post.

By earcups, do you mean the cushions or the metal cans? The cushions are available for purchase separately, but not the metal cans. You‘d need to buy two whole sets of AirPods Max to make one with a black headband and silver cans.

... and you could sell a unique APM with white headband and space grey cans!

(I suppose this would void the warranty)

Yeah, it would also be a tough sell. Would be very rare to find someone who wants open box grey cans with a white headband and no warranty. Most people want the opposite set of cans with a warranty.

This exercise would most likely be for someone who’s willing to live with the possibility of paying $1100 for a perfect mix-n-match set that they want and a ‘reject’ mix-n-match set that‘ll probably be given to a family member who doesn’t care what they look like, or sold for a significant monetary loss.

Ohhhhhhh. Well, i stand corrected, I had no idea. I thought the metal cans were part of the deal.

That's quite a shame though. Would have been absolutely incredible if Apple made the entire thing this ultra modular device by also selling the headband, the cans and the cushions all separately.

@HappyDude20 in that case I guess your only solution is either getting some sort of headband cover as people suggested above, or hoping that Apple somehow begins selling the headband separately.

Apologies for the incomplete info from my end earlier!

Better find a super lightweight cover though. These are already incredibly heavy headphones and I feel adding yet another element to them could make them quite inconvenient unless you're sitting absolutely still at a desk. Any walking around might throw them off.

Consider twice before buying the white ones. Mine looks like this even though I am very careful with them.

I've been lucky enough not to encounter any signfiicant marks or stains on the mesh, but the ear pads get dirty all the time. I've taken to washing them once a week. Small bowl of cold water, a drop of laundry detergent, and the softest toothbrush i can find, then left to dry overnight. I just can't see spending $70 just to get another set of earpads that are a ripoff at half that price.

Here's what my APM look like after two months of daily use.

But in any event, I don't care what they look like. I care what they sound like.

I haven’t purchased them yet. But even though how they sound is of the utmost importance, how they look is very important as well. Especially considering I plan on wearing these for most hours of the day as I make a ton of phone calls aside from listening to music just as much.

I got one of these on eBay. It covers the bottom of the mesh. Was a few bucks and came in about 5 weeks.

This looks promising. Do you mind linking it or telling me what to search for on eBay?

Or you can get this same one from Amazon.
