Okay so some people here have been having problems with Absinthe version 0.2 or 0.1.2 on their macs and they can't figure out why it is crashing.

I tried to fix it with updating iTunes, re-installing the app, closing all programs, etc.

What you have to do is enable the root user/administrator

Some people may have more than one account on their mac if you view your accounts it should tell you which one is the administrator account.

Here are the instructions to enable the root user for OS X 10.6.x and Lion (link below):

OS X Lion

1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
2. From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
3. Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
4. Click Login Options....
5. Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
6. Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
7. Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
8. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
9. Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
10. Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.

Mac OS X v10.6.x

1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
2. From the View menu choose Accounts.
3. Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.

After you've enabled the root user or logged into the admin account plug your iPad 2/iPhone 4S in and run the jailbreak.

I want to know if this worked for anyone because it seems to the only solution on the internet for this problem and the top result on Google.

Not trying to give this a bump just want to know

..

Hi, I also tried what you suggested but the app still doesn't run. In fact it just open and then vanish very quickly without the usual crash message.
What can I do more ?

:apple: OS 10.5.8

restore

if your absinthe is crashing during the "prepare" stage, restore your iPad to factory new and then try it, then load the backup file you created first. worked for me !

^Yup

The more stuff on your iPad = more chance of the complications with your jailbreak

No problems here. Jailbroke my iPad 2 a few days ago with Absinthe on 10.8 b1 with no issues.
