I am trying to find out if the HDMI-CEC also works the other way around, so using you TV remote to control the ATV (basics).
I can imagine that this would not work for all features, but just the basics like 'left, right, up, down, ok-button and (maybe) back-button' to do a quick navigation through the ATV menu's and apps.

And if the HDMI-CEC doesn't work, would the ir-port on the ATV 4 respond to the ir remote of the tv (or universal remote)?

I am hooked on the number pad on my keyboard for switching between channels, and the ATV 4 doesn't have these.

Does anybody know this?

Bumping this topic. I really want to know this as well. My TV controls all my other devices using HDMI-CEC, except my ATV3. Hoping I can simplify my remote setup with the new ATV4.

Update:

I just asked someone on Twitter who has one and he says it works. He can use his TV remote to do basic navigation. Believe it or not this is exciting news for me.
