[solved] Cannot partition external disk

Hi,
I've got a external SSD disk and I want to create two partitions on it but the "Partition" button in Disk Utility is greyed out.


Why is such a simple task as this not possible on macOS High Sierra?

I had to change the view in View > Show all devices

this is so not intuitive ...
