    Hello everyone,
I'm considering switching from Windows to Mac, and I'm trying to get used to the system on my MBP.

The major issue for me right now are file associations. From what it seems to me, Mac OS X doesn't offer any centralized extension manager, not even a third party app can do it. (Is that really true by the way?)

I know about "Open with..." & ticking "Open always with this program" but this trick seems to work only for the currently selected file. E.g. I want all .txt's to open in TextMate. How do I do that?

Right at the moment most .txt's on my Mac are associated with either Dashcode or TextWrangler, the minority -- with TextMate. All new .txt's I download get associated with Dashcode.

Needless to say, this is extremely annoying. Please gimme some advice!

    Thanks in advance.

Right click > get info > open with > program you want to use > change all > yes/okay.

Oh damn! I did right click > Open with > ... instead of right click > get info > open with...
