I’m not able to buy any configuration where I live now because they don’t offer an English keyboard and RAM I want in stock. They have higher configs available, but nothing with an English keyboard and I’m not going to use this for the next five years with a keyboard layout I don’t like.

My delivery date of my 14 inch 10/24/32 config is now December 6 - 13. It actually moved up a day from the 7th earlier this week. I’m happy to wait, just need it before 18 December.

Well, maybe by the time those folks get them, Apple will have the USB, Memory Leak and other bugs fixed
I've had the memory leak issue many times on my work 27" iMac. It's a 2017 Intel i7. It started happening with Big Sur. I don't think it's related to M1, or at least not exclusive to it. It's pretty bad when you run out of ram with 48GB doing normal office stuff.

What's the USB bug? I hadn't heard of that one before.

I saw my Mac Mini trade-in value drop from $950 to $800 as the clock hit 10PM PST while comparing prices and financing last night. Apple is so far playing dumb on this.

Chips shortages because chips are being abused for mining nonsense and then scalpers are almost as bad. Gamers falling over themselves to get a decent GPU after so many months. GPU makers and resellers laughing at the gamers.

Apple shipping estimates are super conservative. I ordered a 16" Max in a 32GB/24 GPU/1Tb configuration. Delivery was estimated November 30-December 7th. Woke up Sunday AM to an Amex large purchase notification and sure enough it shipped out Monday, with delivery estimated for Thursday. That's about 3 weeks earlier than expected.

This is definitely a "Your Mileage May Vary" situation.

Here's my mileage:

Order placed: October 18th
Config: 16" MBP M1 Max with 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM
Shipped: November 4th
Delivery date: "Pending"
Current location: Memphis, TN
Destination: Boston, MA

For those that like keeping track of tracking, here's the path my MBP has taken so far:

(read right to left)
MEMPHIS, TN <- SENNAN-SHI JP <- BEIJING CN <- ANCHORAGE, AK <- BEIJING CN <- SHANGHAI CN

I wonder if it really bounced from China to AK and back again.

Very slow to enumerate and mount USB devices (like minutes vs seconds on intel/big sur). Mounting encrypted volumes is even slower. Completely unable to erase devices connected to a thunderbolt dock (it simply never completes, have to force unmount, go to an intel/big sur machine and erase it there).

Others are finding that some USB hubs just don't work at all.

With chip/part shortages, deliveries are delayed. Not improving anytime soon. Atleast the standard configurations are more easily available. Better order now itself to get delivery before Christmas!

Might as well wait for the corporate EPP to kick in and the model I want to be available in-store.

In case anyone is keeping score, as of now:

(left to right this time)
Memphis TN cleared customs -> East Boston, MA -> Needham, MA -> on truck out for delivery

I recently ordered a MB M1 13" for my sister, which also got to Needham, but was on the "truck out for delivery" for two days.

At least I now have an estimated delivery of "
Thursday, 11/11/2021 before 1:00 pm"

I got mine on 2nd day, they are worth it! This is such a feast to use; I already started to use it on my desk, couch, bed and in-car without the worry of overheating and battery drain. A true mobile workstation!

I don't need to go hunt for wall outlets!

I ordered my 16" 24-core-GPU M1 Max, 64GB / 2TB on Nov 4. The initial shipping estimate said Dec 17 - Dec 27, but just a few days later, on Nov 8, this was changed to Dec 7 - Dec 14.

Then suddenly it shipped from Shanghai on Nov 24; went via Incheon/South Korea, Sharjah/UAE, Cologne/Germany and finally to Stockholm. Arrived yesterday afternoon, i.e. Nov 30.

Same config if ordered today says "6-8 weeks". Really glad I got it when I did.

Mine's been "Clearance in progress" in Memphis for the last 6 days... ?
