Hi Guys,
Getting a maxed out 27" iMac shortly, (maybe just the 3TB fusion drive though)
Just watched a youtube clip of a guy putting his own 32GB ram in,
Starting to think even I could do this

If I do decide to upgrade my own ram,
Is there good and bad brands of ram?
Should I do this before turning the machine on for the first time?
Regards
Gary

Crucial or Corsair are often recommended.

As for putting it in, upon receiving the iMac turn it on to see, if it is working properly. After that, shut it down and upgrade the RAM.

And do you need 32 GB RAM? Could two 8 GB modules with the already existing two 2/4 GB modules be enough for you?

I like memory from OWC and Crucial as both offer superior customer support.

Definitely be sure the computer is working as you expect before you upgrade, that way if something doesn't work its easier to pin point.
