You can say America is #2 all you want but China more than doubles US manufacturing output
It doesnt actually, US manufacturing levels are 60% of Chinas. We do, however, have more than double the output of the next largest, Japan

I would hope so considering the size difference of American and Japan.

For example, china produces more than 2x the amount of fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws) than America. This is a big deal because if you want to make products with the cheapest fasteners you will want to make as much of the product as possible in China because within one location you can source nearly all of the parts you need.

You mentioned car manufacturing but you forgot to talk about where all the actual materials and subcomponents for those cars come from. Most of the actual stuffs that arrive at an America factory are not American materials or components and are just there for final assembly.

Germany is, by far, the world’s largest manufacturer of screws and bolts

So far you’re 0/3 on your posts on this topic, want to try for best out of 7?

Apple's greatest should be designed and made in North America. Otherwise you just help other countries advance beyond your country and then you have to rely on them. Not good if "them" has a hidden agenda.

Massive W for Apple. The less they can rely on China, the less exposed they will be when China inevitably does something stupid and causes tensions to rise once more. If I'm not mistaken, Apple is extremely exposed to China in multiple ways. I would wish Apple luck but they are a multi-trillion dollar company so I'm sure they'll figure it out

modern chip making (can) heavily recycles water used, so Arizona is a great place to make chips.
But the humans employed (this latest announcement includes 2000 jobs) don't recycle their own water.

Water issues are important throughout the western part of the US (and northern Mexico.)

It's easy for people caught up in the latest gizmos to ignore the impact of making and buying all this stuff.

Well you're 0/1 on reading what I wrote so try again I guess.
I read what you said, did you? by your logic all that production should be in Germany. For that matter the country size thing was kinda funny too, the US is a bigger manufacturer than India, so is Japan, think about that for a sec

Anyway, 0/4, best out of 9?

Well India is a developing country so that doesn't require much thought.

And the reason production isn't all in Germany is because of what I've said probably several times now in some fashion:

China has massive industrial centers in which they can locally source and assemble whatever it is they produce. You also don't need to pay Germany wages, deal with EU or German laws (or American wages/laws), and can take advantage of extremely friendly and well funded policies in China. You seem to be acting like there is a conspiracy to unfairly place China at the top.

You are, unsurprisingly, still wrong.

The EU as a whole approximately matches the manufacturing output of China, wages, taxes, and benefits havent stopped that, especially in the top manufacturers (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and while I’m not counting the UK in this since they arent part of the EU anymore they too are a major manufacturer).

When you talk about gearing a country towards manufacturing output the country on the planet with the highest percentage of its workforce engaged there is Poland, China doesnt even break the top 5.

I dont think there’s a conspiracy to have china at the top, no one is disputing they are the single largest manufacturer, but you and a lot of others on this thread seem to vastly overestimate that manufacturing capacity, and vastly underestimate the capacity of the US (and, apparently, the EU)

So dude, just take the L, you are just not up on the facts on this

Anyway 0/5, best of 11?

What does % of workforce matter when china has 1.3+ billion people lmao

I guess you will continue to ignore how things work on the ground and cling to numbers on a page

US job growth and domestic manufacturing is simply not a priority for Apple. Relying on China as the world's electronic manufacturer is coming to a end very soon. India and Vietnam are now slated to share that title. I very much doubt Apple's stop gap solution with Amkor will be a long term solution.

These would not be the latest 3nm or 5nm SoCs as those will still only be made in Taiwan (especially 3nm since TSMC is still de-risking those processes).

More likely would be things built on older 5nm and 7nm processes like the SiP for the Apple Watch SE and the H and W chips for the AirPods family.
It's still a start....
