It's 2018, why do we still have DST, and even more importantly, why do we still have DST bugs!?

Like I don’t see people saying “Who needs Daylight Savings Time? It’s older than Myspace, and we dropped that years ago.”

What any of this has to do with Myspace I have no idea, but the question remains: why do we have DST?

The farmer thing is a myth, and the idea that it saves energy has been debunked at this point. All it really does is screw up people's internal clocks, decrease productivity and cause more accidents. The European Union has ruled to allow individual countries to opt out of it, and it's way past time the US took another look as well.
