ya I did a mountain biking workout on Sunday, for like 3 hours. Saved the workout on my watch (iPhone was in backpack with me the whole time) and the entire workout just disappeared. Like it never even happened. No time, GPS, calories. NADA.

that's annoying AF because I'm pretty sure I set some PRs on that ride too. ridiculous

I did an outside walk. I had the workout time but nothing else. After restarting several times I was unable to reset the watch through settings or via the watch app. I ended up wiping the watch through iCloud then restoring from backup. I haven't had an issue since.

I just want battery life to get fixed. I was ending my day around 70% before watchOS 7and now it sometimes reaches below 35%

I have an iPhone XR and Series 4 watch. I updated to iOS 14 with no problems, but when I updated my watch to Watch OS 7, my watch stopped syncing workout data to my phone (it did seem to be tracking walking distance). I went through all the online suggestions (check settings, close/restart apps, restart devices, unpair/repair, with no effect. Yesterday I chatted with Apple support, who recommended I unpair/repair, but set up the watch as a new device vs. from a backup. Getting ready to go for a bike ride, but based on what I'm reading here, I'm thinking it won't work until Watch OS 7.1.

Also watch battery seems to be dying much faster.

Kind of irrelevant, but why are the watch hands grey in this picture and how can I do this...?
Sorry for bumping this but can someone give me some feedback? I really want these grey hands on my watch face :)

I see this statement all the time. It's no different than those who say that people should never buy the first model year of a redesigned auto, etc.
Not even remotely analogous.

All one has to do is ask, "What if everyone followed that recommendation?"
Why in the good heavens should I care? You think I have a moral obligation to take a chance on an irreversible major upgrade just so Apple can have another community beta tester? Hard pass, thanks.

Yes, I have the same issue, no heart rate data, no gps tracking and calorie counting is all to pot. Battery life is terrible on iPhone XS Max. I workout first thing with 100% battery. After an hour it's now 68% where as I usually leave the gym with 90-92% battery.

This is the most garbage release Apple has ever done.
Others have said it but I had similar issues. My S5 would lose battery at an alarming rate like I got out of work with it at 90% and 2-3 hours later after walking the dog it was on powe reserve. This morning I unpaired and restored. Woke up walked the dog and just finished a 15mi bike ride I’m at 80% seems to have fixed the issue completely.

I have had the same problem in watchOS 6, sometimes my Apple Watch didn’t save map track data after an outdoor run... (1 of 25 times it happens)

I was going to post the same thing. The problem started maybe 6 months ago, well before watchOS 7.

A number of Apple Watch owners who have updated to watchOS 7 are reporting an issue involving missing GPS mapping data after recording exercise in Apple's wrist-based Workout app.

Several MacRumors readers have been in touch to highlight the problem, which was first noted in a thread on Apple's support communities by a user who upgraded their iPhone XS Max to iOS 14 and Apple Watch Series 4 to watchOS 7.
The thread currently runs 16 pages and includes multiple users reporting similar issues with tracking GPS data on Apple Watch Series 3, 4, and 5 models.

In the majority of cases, users record a workout on their watch while leaving their iPhone at home, but when they later look at the Activity app it only shows the workout's starting point on the GPS map, and nothing else. Some users are also reporting sync issues with Strava and problems with additional workout stats, including heart rate information.

It's not clear what's causing the problems, but Apple is apparently aware of them, so hopefully a solution is on the way in watchOS 7.1, the beta of which went out to developers last week.

Is anyone able to tell me the actual color of the watchband being shown above. Is it the Saddle Brown? It looks too dark. Anyway, a random question, I know. But thanks!

The GPS when I walk or run using the activity app or Nike Run on my SS4 is not tracking exact meters, like 50 mts just record 16 meters or even less!

I did all the steps to recalibrate the GPS and didn't work (twice!),
I'm just waiting a month or two to send my watch for warranty (AppleCare+) and hope to receive a SS5 hahaha

Prior to WatchOS 7 I used to get two days out of my Apple Watch 4 Cellular - it now struggles to make it to 9pm.

Also, yeah, my GPS doesn't work either!

I, too, am missing GPS data from my Series 5 watch using the Outside Walk option. Unlike some, I did have my phone with me during the walk. It was a 5K walk on a track -should have been a boring oval but only a green place marker flag shows on the map. Data from the same location before the update shows up fine. The battery life is outrageously bad. Will try repairing with the hopes it helps.

You realize the recommended caloric intake per day is 2000 calories. Did you really think you were burning more than that "resting"?
My RMR is about 2500 calories a day.

The recommended caloric intake "[e]stimates range from 1,600 to 2,400 calories per day for adult women and 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day for adult men." it's not just one number for all people. For that matter, at 3000 calories a day I'd lose over three pounds a week.

My watch/phone still shows about 2500 resting calories, so at least that isn't messed up. However, I do have the GPS issue. I thought it might be related to having to use airplane mode while exercising (even though it worked that way before) because of the godawful battery life, but apparently not. In airplane mode, I'm losing 4-5% of the distance of my exercise since updating the watch and phone.

Xr and Series 4 - same - no heart rate data, only the starting points for workouts shown (2 runs and 1 bike; bike had phone with me). Might be time to pull the Garmin out of the drawer; or, buy a new Venu to add heart rate and payments. These missing, core feature, plus the frustration I just had after a run when my watch detected the phone but my EarPods didn't so I couldn't play any music while recovering, makes me think the grass might be greener elsewhere.

All one has to do is ask, "What if everyone followed that recommendation?"

Gosh, that's easy. If everyone followed that recommendation, it would put an enormous amount of pressure on Apple to more thoroughly vet their software releases in an attempt to get people to update, which is exactly the point.

I’m running pretty much daily and except occasional minor mistakes that add up maybe to a 100 metres or so, I had no issues - been on the Developer Beta since the start.
