I bought my friend an iPhone last week, hoping to make his life easier and allowing him to drop his home phone and consolidate his whole life into one device. Well, my best intentions are backfiring a little now, as his number switch from Verizon has been anything but smooth. He can get text messages from anyone, phone calls from me and my girlfriend (both on iphones) but seemingly not from anyone on a cell phone on any other carrier. When his business partners and clients try to call him, they get a Verizon disconnected line message. He's spent hours over the last two days talking with AT&T and Verizon and they don't know what is wrong. It's frustrating to say the least. I was trying to do something nice for a friend, and it's turned into a nightmare. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue when transferring a number from Verizon, and how it might have finally been resolved? He has a New York City number, and we live in Los Angeles. Not sure if that has any effect, I don't think it should.
