Just as the 4th gen Air is. Likely the battery layout is a bit different and causing the problem. as I noted I had the "haptic" feel around the apple logo and it went away.

I sent my new Air back because of this.
I bought a Mini instead, and it’s just right for my needs. I’ll let the MBP do any heavy lifting, and if I ever want a more ‘Pro’ iPad I’ll go ahead and buy an iPad Pro.
Right now, the mini is just what I need.

Mini has screen issue

There is no screen issue with the Mini. It does have the same performance as all 60hz displays. But that is a fact and facts are often of little significance to the anti-Apple crowd. You can produce the so called “jelly effect” with any 60hz display.

Mine doesn’t. Did you read this somewhere, or do you have a mini that has its own issue?

More than 50 pages if you want to read all

Again, not an issue just the inherent nature of 60hz displays. But some people are turning complaining about “jelly scrolling” into an obsession. Try one out and see if it works for you. I love mine.

Oh, I wouldn't want to sit through 50 pages of people whining about something that isn't an issue when I have an iPad mini in my hands and I can see for myself that this isn't an 'issue' at all.

Pointing me to 50 pages on the internet isn't concrete proof that it's there and I just can't see it (in front off me). It's not a conspiracy. It's a 60Hz small display and it does everything it needs to do.

Conversely, the iPad Air 5 that has just been released is also a brilliant piece of tech, but the one I had was too thin and the back side of the case creaked and made tapping/hollow flexing noises when in hand (which is pretty much 90% of the time with an iPad, right?). I could also see pressure and distortion on the screen where I was holding it. None of this with the Air 4, or with the Mini that I Bought to replace it. I thought I could live with it, but it turns out that I don't want to compromise on build quality. YMMV.

If it's a universal problem, then it's Apple's problem, which is why I sent it back for a refund. I knew that if I decided to live with it the resale value would sting me when I want to sell it on later.

Happy with the Mini. There's nothing wrong with the screen.

I guess you believe the world is flat too?

Just wanted to add my two cents since this thread caused me to second guess my original plan to buy the Air 5. After seeing enough people recently mention having no problems, it really seems like the original complaints are more related to an initial manufacturing issue that must have been caught and fixed. Disappointing that Apple decided to sell those devices if the issues were as bothersome as they seem.

However, I finally decided to pickup the Air 5 today and can add another positive review regarding the hardware quality. I don’t have a single issue like the complaints listed. The iPad feels sturdy and indistinguishable from holding a Pro model. There must have been a bad early batch of aluminum backplates, but the one I’m holding feels just about bulletproof.

Just wanted to share this in case anyone else was still on the fence.

I guess that once iJustine is done drooling and licking on some iGadget that she’s reviewing she will have to return it. But being first with the review might give her enough cash to buy the products? And second… will an iGadget that has been licked by iJustine go for more or less than a new, sealed product?

Due to hygiene, I won’t accept it from her.

Just got mine and instantly noticed this. was not aware but a quick Google search and found the Reddit article and then this article fast. very unApple in feel and design. I was rather surprised. I understand cost reduced and saving money but geez feels like a Samsung product! Returning. Yes it’s that much of an issue. Just use it for half a day and you’ll agree.

You should probably return it…
