So since it’s not happening to you it’s not that big of a deal? Loool
I literally say it’s happening but continuous articles make it seem like it’s widespread. So much so people are saying they are glad they skipped. The issues you see in articles most likely wouldn’t happen you. The point of my post was to highlight how articles of problems distort the reality of these problems occurring in real life.

Again. Not happening to you so it must not be widespread

Solved: check in the Contacts app if the contact you are trying to airdrop has a note saying that the phone is using a last called line not available and change it to your current phone line. It happened to me as I switched to an esim, from sim, using the same number, but the phone could sense the difference.

This is not a iPhone 14 specific issue. I’ve had exactly this last year too when my wife got her new iPhone 13. That lasted several months. Before that I have had it multiple times randomly as well on several iPhones, without any new phones in the equation.
One time I was able to manage to narrow it down to Apple ID’s being used that were different from what I had in my contact list, but all other times 🤷

I can't believe it's been 11 years (?) since AirDrop launched, and we still can only choose Nobody/Contacts/Anyone. How about a way to only allow a sub-group of contacts that I trust to send me stuff? If that feature is there and I'm too dumb to notice, please let me know.

Ah ha! So that’s why I’ve not been able to air drop to or from my wife since getting my 14 pro. Seems to be plenty of these little niggles this year. Hoping for a quick fix

I suspect this could be an iOS 16 issue more than iPhone 14 as I experienced (and reported) this with several of the betas on my iPhone 12 Pro when trying to airdrop stuff to my wife. My phone would show as Waiting but the Airdrop notification never appeared on her phone (iPhone 12, latest iOS 15 at the time). Now we are both on the release version of iOS 16 it seems to be working ok again, so it could be an issue with iOS 16 airdropping to previous versions?

This issue has been around for a while. It seems to fix itself randomly then stop working again. Noticed it since iOS 14.

Can't wait to browse MacRumors following the release of Apple Car

"Apple promises imminent fix for bug causing iCar to see see red stoplights as green"

To the guys who were defending the new pro models’ lack of USB3 speed: told ya! 😀

Go to iCloud under setting. turn off contact. remove from device. then turn it back on. Sorted.
I finally fixed it by doing that after like an hour playing around with it. it must be glitch in the iCloud contact syncing if you happen to transfer from old iPhone to new iPhone using the transfer from old iPhone option and not via iCloud backup.

The problem is too many people have access to Beta’s who don’t actually report bugs and only want it so that they receive the new version of iOS before anyone else.
Those people’s net effect on the beta is zero. They don’t help but don’t hurt either. This is all about Apple’s 1 year cycle. Every iOS .0 version has been exactly like this. They’ll fix the ones they care about by .3 or .4.
Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave. Tim Apple is to blame.
I think you’re forgetting some pretty awful .0 versions from the Jobs era.

My post is about the internet distortion of problems that are happening in reality. Continuous post about various issues make it seem like the launch is chaos when it isn’t. End of story it has nothing to do with my personal experience.

Amazing, even with a reskinned iPhone 13 they have nasty bugs like these. Peak Apple right there.

Some people (me!) log Feedback issues, they're ignored, the release goes live and the issue eventually gets reported on Twitter etc. after which Apple acknowledges it.

If they bothered to read the feedback reports in the first place they wouldn't end up like this.

I had this issue after i upgraded to ios 16 on my iPhone 11 pro... Don't seem to have it on the 14 pro

My wife and I are also having this issue on iPhone 14 Pros and iOS 16.0.2. While we see each other has known AirDrop contacts sending a file results in a never ending waiting status and no notifications on receiving device. Yet the same device shows under “other” devices and we can send easily to that one.
