Some iPhone 16 Models Rumored to Feature Bigger Batteries

The iPhone 16 lineup is set to see notable battery capacity changes across the board, according to the X user known as "Majin Bu."

In a new post, Majin Bu claims that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger batteries than their predecessors, but the iPhone 16 Plus is set to take a significant step back in terms of battery capacity. The X user also noted that the iPhone 16 Pro Max is moving away from the L-shaped battery design used on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and earlier toward a standard rectangular battery like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The rumored changes are as follows:

Majin Bu did not disclose any information about the iPhone 16 Pro's battery. It is not clear why the iPhone 16 Plus's battery would shrink compared to its predecessor while the iPhone 16's battery grows, seeing as both devices have an identical feature-set and share many of their components.

While Majin Bu often aggregates and shares information related to Apple's plans, they do not have a solid track record. As a result, this part of the rumor should be treated with some skepticism until we know more, but it is worth noting that a smaller battery would not necessarily equate to reduced battery life, since there could be efficiency savings elsewhere that prolong battery life.

I really, really don't need a bigger battery. It'd be nice to have a lighter/thinner phone for once. If I want more battery life, I'll bring a USB battery or a MagSafe one.

I’m sure the brick loving 3 day battery life required crowd will love this but I’m actually happy to have a much lighter phone with the 15 pro.

I hope Apple don’t start going backwards with this again.

I'm happy with my 15PM. Lighter, slightly smaller (much easier getting it out of narrow shirt pockets), better balance holding it, and a battery that lasts me more than a day.

Overkill day 1 battery capacity is a good thing because it means that when the phone is in like year 3 or 4 of use it will still be passable.

I have to disagree. The battery has improved, but even my Pro Max is now weakening after 1 1/2 years. So there is still a lot of room for improvement.

That and they saw an opportunity to eke out more profit on the Plus model itself by making the battery smaller. In Tim Cook’s eyes, the excellent battery life of the 15 Plus was surely a big mistake.

Yeah -- it makes me wonder if the narratives about Apple Silicon being some sort of wizards of efficiency were true initially but are showing diminishing returns as they try to advance them

We need at least 5000mah, each year there just going to increase little by little and say it's all-day battery when it's not. I don't know anyone with an iPhone that has full brightness that says their battery lasts all day.

This was my first cynical thought too... Can't have the "Max" not have max battery life.
