Hey guys,

My Macbook's keyboard has been acting extremely funky this past week. The primary issue deals with the "h" typing "˙" (it doesn't help now that the key is hanging off one hinge. I accidentally chipped one of hinges in my cleaning attempt) and occasionally some keys on typing their respective alt characters. Also, when I type some keys it mutes my speakers. Looking at the virtual keyboard viewer,I press the left option key and the "h" key appears in grey. But when pressing the right option key it does not.

I've checked under "Language & Text" and "Speech" and everything appears to be fine. I have ran the typical Disk Utility functions and SMC reset to no avail. Also, I can't even run a PRAM reset!! It doesn't help that I am no longer under warranty. If anyone can help please let me know!!!!

FYI I am using a MB403LL/A model running on 10.6.8.

Sounds like a bad keyboard. If you hook up an external keyboard via USB and type with it, do the problems go away?
