I hope this is not a big problem. I am posting this on my cell phone. I tried to email a friend and some of the letters would not work. Is there a setting or something that would fix this problem. It is a problem on Safari, Chrome and email. thanks

There all in the same area on the keyboard.
I used a compresor to blow them out but did not work. Help

Did you do any basic troubleshooting? Try a different keyboard. Try a different USB port. If it is wireless, reduce the range to see if there is an improvement.

It would help if you said what type of computer you have (Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, iMac, etc.) and the year. If it's a recent model MacBook Pro then the butterfly switches that Apple uses on those are known to have issues when a particle of dust gets in there, in which case Apple recommends replacing the top case, which has a $700 price tag if the MacBook Pro is out of warranty.

This is my macbook.

Wrong forum. Recommend resetting nvram and perhaps using the on screen keyboard as well. Does the keyboard do the same thing on any application?

Sorry about that.
I decided to have someone replace the keyboard. thanks

You probably have "Mouse Keys" enabled. Check "System Preferences" -> "Accessibility" -> "Mouse & Trackpad". Can happen if you press the "Option" key 5 times in a row.

I would simply bring it into an Apple Store for an Appointment with the Genius Bar and let them handle it from there. I don't have any other solutions for you on this one sorry.

I responded to the other thread about this in Mac Basics, but I believe you may be correct. With Mouse Keys enabled, the keys 7, 8, 9, U, I, O, J, K, L, M, and '.' (period) can be used to control the movement of the mouse pointer and mouse clicking. Also, there are other numbers, letters, and keys cannot be used.

Basically the keys that the Mouse Keys setting effects, are the ones the OP is having trouble with.
