Engadget claims to have details from a trusted source that claims to have knowledge of Apple's upcoming MacBook Air announcement.

- 11.6-inch display
- 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2 USB Ports, Mini DisplayPort, SD card reader
- Trackpad similar to MacBook Pro
- Black power key on top right of keyboard

No word on graphics card or SSD storage capacity. A 2.13GHz processor could be the ultra-low voltage processor we previously detailed.

Apple will likely reveal the new MacBook Air at today's Back to the Mac media event. We'll provide coverage here, as well as on our Twitter accounts (@MacRumors / @MacRumorsLive) and we've also set up a Spoiler Free page.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

Sounds interesting!

Perfect. CASH is ready... (Thats how we do things in Europe)
1199 Euros is my guess for the base version. Any cheaper and I suppose the AppleTV won't be waiting til christmas.

Whats up Arn.. couldn't you sleep?

I know I'm probably wasting my virtual breath with this one but... if it turns out that the new MBA does indeed have a Core 2 Duo processor can everyone maybe take a moment of quiet contemplation before covering the internets in bile? Just possibly? For an ultraportable that's more than enough processor power and if it makes the machine cooler / quieter / cheaper / improves battery life then it's probably a compromise worth making for the target audience.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what Apple come up with today, although I'd be surprised if we see anything touch-based in OS X at this event. It may, indeed, make it into 10.7 but announcing it a long way in advance of products being available to use it may affect sales as people wait for a big update. Same on a CDMA iPhone, announcing it today unless it's available very soon may have a negative impact on AT&T sales leading up to christmas.

I do hope instant boot is something that will find its way to all Mac's, seems odd that there's only MBA rumors. One would imagine they'll update all portable Mac's at least.

First I indeed hated it. It sounded a bit plasticky, a bit "PC"-like. Other keys are black, but they are lined and more important - one hits the power button only once and then forgets about it. But then I started to think, that there has to be some clever thinking behind it, so I will reserve my judgement and take back my hasty claims. (Thus edited message above - sorry about changing opinions as fast as T-shirts.)

I will jump at a new Air if it has an 8-10 hour battery like the Pro's, and if the line issue in the screen is absent. It also needs 4 gigs of Ram and a Glass Trackpad, but I think those two are a given this time around.

About the processor you guys mentioned before, in my opinion I doubt that Apple would use that ULV core i7 processor. Not because they don't want to, but because of Intel using their monopoly power and not allowing manufacturers to use nVidias chipsets like the 320m with the new core i processors. And I don't think Apple wants to get stuck with ****** Intel integrated graphics, and I HIGHLY doubt they're willing to use a discrete gpu for an ultra thin portable product with long batt life. So their only option is to use a Core 2 CPU if they want to be able to use the 320m nVidia chipset.

I'm new here. What line issue?

Whatever the specs turn out to be, everyone will still complain that it costs too much. ;)

I wonder if it would be worth apple putting an A4 Chip in there as well as the intel chip. It could possibly save battery life. Only problem is with the processor compatibility, it would be PPC to Intel all over again.
