I rip all my movies. But a few that I ripped about a year ago play fine in the older ATV won’t play on the new one. Says it can’t play it. I rip with make mkv then rip with handbrake. Other videos with same format work fine. Haven’t tried ripping again yet.

May I ask why you rip with makemkv and then rip with Handbrake? Any advantage over ripping with makemkv to an mkv file?

If the OP is using iTunes and the computer app to play to the ATV, mkv won't work.

Smaller files size might be another reason.

Plex requires a server, Infuse is just an Apple TV client which uses a share from your computer. Prefer Plex, but it is more complicated, as well as more powerful.

Thanks for the information. I use Infuse Pro on a 1st Gen 4k with my full 4k and HD rips of the main movie on a NAS.
