Hey,
i got the fully stacked 2020 27 inch iMac and some games don't show up on screen when i start them. They claim to be running but there just is no game window. Namely it's Persona 4 Golden and the Princess Maker games. (all of wich used to run on my 2011 iMac) More modern games seem to have no issue (Anno 1800, xcom2, civ 6, planet coaster and zoo, frost punk all run fine).

Essentially i click on the installed game, it switches to green and says "running". Beyond that there is nothing, i cant stop it from running, but i can also still start other games (wich i think is a no no usually). So if i start persona and princes maker they both don't show up, but claim to be running (even drop steam cards).

I fear this might be something todo with the AMD drivers, since i feel certain that i had Persona 4 golden running before the driver update came around. But in actuality i have no idea what is happening.

Any ideas?

Edit: I did reinstall steam. Made no difference.
Tried to reinstall the AMD Bootcamp drivers, not sure if that worked, ended up with a black screen but everything seemed to be still running as it did before after so...

I would also check previous versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables as well.

Installing legacy DirectX and Visual C++ are two of the earliest things I do when building a new Windows PC boot drive.

It's simply easier to install ALL of the legacy packages rather than waste time trying to figure out which specific ones a given game needs. I install both 32- and 64-bit versions of both libraries.

This is pretty much Vanilla Windows 10.

What i noticed is that these failing apps seem to be 32-bit while the others are not. Is this 64 bit only deal something exclusive to MacOS or is it something with the intel chip? However i feel so certain Persona 4 was running on this machine. Maybe before the installation of the AMD driver, i don't feel certain.

I always figured Steam would automatically prompt installation of said librarys.

From what i googled just now Persona 4 Golden needs directx 11, the dxdiag claims i have directx 12 installed. Maybe thats it. Kinda having a hard time finding the legacy installations at MS though.

It seems like installing directx 11 made no difference. I also feel like all these games got their rerelease for steam kinda recently so i wonder if they need legacy drivers.

Any ideas. I don’t even know were to find old direct x stuff without falling in some virus trap on those non official websites.
