Perfect. I'd say go for it then. The 2016's are great devices, very capable. Enjoy!

I had a lot of these thoughts too, and you've summarized the pros and cons of waiting very well.

For me, it came down to the fact that I wanted a light and thin laptop. My MBA (at 2.9 lbs) is probably where the new MBP is gonna be, since Apple is still constrained by the need for a fan and a larger battery for the larger screen. So, since it wasn't going to be really near the 2lb mark, and I have absolutely no need for extra ports or the power of a MBP, I just figured I'd spring for the rMB.

I went m7/512 (since I have 240gb currently on my 2011 MBA excluding my movies/tv shows), and the m7 for the heck of it.

[now, if Apple pulls a rabbit out of their hat, then maybe I'll sell the rMB used to someone for a loss and just jump ship, but I doubt it'll sway me.]

Definitely agree. I'm extremely happy with my choice. Has performed better than my 2012 MBA, which was doing everything I needed it to. And I only have the m3, your m7 has a significant bump. After a couple days I'm already completely hooked on the 12 MB experience. Can't see myself ever wanting to go back.

Seems like the 12" MacBook was made for someone like you. No real reason for you to wait (and miss out on 2 months of the fun of owning the latest/greatest).

I would note that the 13" rMBP currently starts at the same $1,299 price as the 12" MB, but that could potentially change after WWDC. I could see 12" MB at $1,299...13" rMBP at $1,499...and a 15" rMBP at $1,999 starting, especially with the added up-sell of extra ports and Thunderbolt 3. That said, sounds like neither of those up-sell features matter to you and the machine will obviously be a bit heavier and thicker.

Lastly, everyone is assuming IF the new MBP's are announced at WWDC that they will start shipping that day. Apple very well could say something like "these beautiful new MacBook Pros will be shipping in July." Which, according to historical Apple releases, means like July 31st at 11:59pm. So, the wait could be even longer than some expect. Enjoy your new MacBook. What color did you go with?
