Sorry I did not watch the video but the :apple:TV3 was never marked as a pre-order, so why is this a big deal?

Yes it was. And those that preordered it early are stoked about getting it today, which is a day before it's available in stores. Great news to me.

I already have mine -- and I was counting the days. My original generation :apple:TV was in desperate need of replacement. It was overheating (probably due to the aging hard drive and inability to dissipate heat quickly enough). I had to put it on a laptop cooling pad and build an aluminum heat-sink to help cool the thing. It would still start to stutter and screw up after being on for more than hour.

I have a 2nd gen :apple:TV as well, and those are great, but knowing that a 3rd gen was coming, I had no intention of buying yet another 2nd gen unit before launch day.

Fortunately I got my 3rd gen a day early and all is well. I can go donate the original model to a museum. :)

Fedex didn't even knock!!!!

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

They didn't even knock on the door! Been waiting all day for it and never heard anything! I hate FedEx! If it was UPS they would've just left it at the door!

I hope this is available in-store tomorrow as I plan to go to an Apple retail store to pick one up. Just to be prepared, I'll be picking up an HDMI cable from Newegg today, I'm glad their will-call center is close by to me.

Shipping companies to apple: "okay you know we're going to screw one up, do you want it to be the iPad or apple tv?

Apple: umm err Apple tv!

Do we know that this was a screw up. Perhaps there was never an agreement to strictly hold the Apple TV. After all it is a hobby not a hero item. Perhaps Apple doesn't care if it shows up a day early so long as there isn't an iPad (3rd gen) in the package as well

I mean, in all honesty that pic in the OP could've been of the last gen ATV and no one would've been able to tell...

Just received mine! Everything is much sharper and clearer. On my HDTV there seems to be a noticeable improvement! :D

Also, the delivery man said that he had my iPad on the truck but he was not allowed to deliver it today.

"puppy"? And WTF are you going to do with it at work?

Mine should be delivered to work at any moment as well. I shipped that and the iPad (ordered together) to work so it would not be sitting on my front porch and I wouldn't have to go to Kinkos to pick it up.

Is Safari "snappier"?

Mine just arrived about 5 minutes ago via FedEx. Time to hook it up, I guess. Moving the existing one to another (non-1080p) TV and putting this one there.

Hey.. So I just hooked up the Apple Tv, and everything is beautiful, but I have speakers hooked up 2 my tv, and occasionally when browsing the menus of the movies, the sound goes out! Any one else having this problem? With this, I'm definitely thinking of selling it back to apple this week.

How are you connected - HDMI or HDMI and optical?
