I am getting a bit tired of the long outages. This worked better in MobileMe but one thing is the same: When everything is down, the status page says that everything is fine. How can anything this big, this global, this important to Apple and their customers be completely down so long and so often?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

Same. iCloud is down. Password not working. Also, my iCal has been rejecting my password for a few days. I am still having issues deleting alias' from my MobileMe account. Sucks...

Just spent nearly 20 minutes on hold on AppleCare. While on hold I happened to look over here to see what was new. Saw this, Turns out MacRumors knows more about what's going on than AppleCare. The guy on the other end just sent me over to the support page to show me they had a problem.

Really? You have a problem . . . That's why I CALLED!

Things have not been going so smoothly since Steve decided to leave. Anyone know when he's coming back?

Outage affecting me as well. iCloud on Mac, Phone, and Ipad

This is extremely irritating.

I just reset my password to one I don't really want to use, and I can't change it back to the one I like for a whole freakin year....

I thought they had a highly *redundant* data center in North Carolina.

Guess Not....

I get annoyed to see things like this.

Anyone ever think it has nothing to do with apple and maybe its a router or god know what between us and apple? It could be sooo many things.

Between that and 'stuff happens'. And how much are we paying for the service? On a Holiday?

To be honest...no. At start when they launched it, but everyone knew about that. I literally held off moving to dropbox since idisk worked so well.

I still used Dropbox, because my work computers are pcs (made its easier) and my colleagues used dropbox, but iDisk was a very nice feature. I have had MobileMe since july '09 and have only 1 problem, and that was with the multiple entries showing up in my address book.

I'll confirm that it was an issue for about a whole 5 minutes....but I can access it now.

Wow....I was so worried there for a moment that I almost went postal. /s

I feel like I was the first one to experience the outage. I didn't have iCloud email for an hour and a half or more. Glad it's back up.

For those complaining, there's 2 factors at play here and both revolve around the idea of scaling.

First, you have to realize that the number of people using iCloud now is probably already 10x more than were using MobileMe before. It's free and is being very very heavily advertised and pushed by Apple (every device that's upgraded to iOS 5 and every new device wants you to set it up). Every person I know on iOS 5 (a dozen or more maybe?) is using it. And I don't know many people.

Second, Apple's server farm in NC is brand new, never before been used. You don't turn on a new data center like that all at once for all kinds of reasons, which I won't go into unless someone asks me to. As the need arises, more hardware will be turned on and the service will scale up. During the period of a major launch like this it's really expected that there be some issues like this. It would quite literally have been a miracle if Apple had pulled this whole thing off with no hiccups at all during the first 3 or more months. It's commendable they've had as few problems as they have.

One last morsel of food for though: it's FREE. Don't complain too much. You can grumble a bit but you can't threaten to sue over a free service. :p

Early adopters

I’m a current MobileMe user and I don’t plan on switching to iCloud until April or even May 2012. You guys are paying the price for being early adopters. Unless you really really need some of iCloud’s new services, it would make a lot more sense to give Apple a few months to work out the bugs in its new setup.

Had problems, everything working great now.
I'm more worried though, about the fact my account picture is definitely not of me and just some random guy.

I have been paying for .Mac and MobileMe for years now. And I'm sorry, when the outage is widespread, it's not a router on the outside. If they architect their data center and applications properly, and adequately test changes, these types of outages will not occur frequently. This was clearly a systemic problem and a widespread outage, not so limited as their notice implied.

Users Affected: Some

lol I haven't seen anyone say they can access icloud

Mine worked find all day... People don't generally jump on message board and post everything is working for me. My computer is great, email is great I just added a new appointment to my calendar etc...

Anybody also having the issue that no iWork documents created on the Mac (on 10.7.2 with Keynote 5.1, Pages 4.1, Numbers 2.1) show up in iCloud? If I import them 'into iCloud' via Dropbox and the iOS iWork apps they do show up. Do I have to do something special with iWork documents created on the Mac for them to show up in iCloud?
