I also ordered a Smart Case. Loved the quality of it, however, I found it to be too bulky and heavy, thus I returned it and decided to stick with only the Smart Keyboard. Had I kept the Smary Case, the loose sim tray obviously would be an issue. O

I'd look for a lighter back cover. There are plenty of back covers on Amazon that are much thinner and lighter, and also much less expensive than Apple's.

I will just go for Apple Care+ instead and hope that I will be as lucky with this unit as I have been with my other idevices. I never had a screen crack or case warp/dent in the many years of using iPods, iPhones and iPads. Scratches are another story, but I am not a perfectionist with my hardware. I buy these devices to use with the idea that they will make my life a bit easier. A few battle marks add character, which is also why I won't be returning my current unit despite its slightly loose sim tray.

You misunderstand me, I never said that it wasn't possible to subsist on 32gb or less...merely that you're thinking small in how you will use the new iPad.

Go ahead, anyone and get the 32gb model. Then report back in 8-12 months and tell us if you chose wisely.

Only a very small segment of users fit getting a 32gb model now in (soon to be) 2017.
The way you're phrasing this really makes people want to disagree with you. I certainly do: I have a 9.7" iPad Pro that I use for work. It's 32 GB. No size issues. I was using a 16 GB iPad Mini and then a 16 GB iPad Mini 2 for years before I started having space problems.

On the other hand, I also have a 128 GB iPad for home use. I may have about 100 GB used, but most of it is video content that I loaded on and never bothered to delete, as well as a lot of large apps that I don't use but loaded on anyway. I'm being lazy with the storage space there.

I think the point you're trying to make is that people who are new to iPads will discover that they have more uses for it than they initially thought, and will come to find that 32 GB is restrictive. I think it's well-intentioned enthusiasm, but I still disagree. A lot of people will find uses for iPads that they might not have initially thought of, but it takes time to grow into that. A lot of people also have specific functions in mind for these devices, in which case storage needs can be estimated pretty accurately. You generally upgrade it every few years, so if you find that space is getting tight, you can trade up to the next storage tier with the upgrade...

With white bezels, there is a very fine/thin black border between the bezel and the screen that is noticeable with non-black backgrounds. I found that to be distracting. When working on documents, the stark, solid border of the black bezel (and absence of the white bezel/thin black border) frames it better.
I see people mention this sometimes but I actually like the little black border. Maybe I'm weird.

I've been using the same iPad since I purchased it in 2011...I don't upgrade it every few years and the majority of iPad users don't buy a new one like you say, either.

I've only ever had one 32GB iPad. The rest have been 16GB and I've managed since launch day of the original iPad. Granted now 16GB is starting to become a struggle, but 32GB would be plenty for me. The only thing I would like to do now that I can't is store a few music playlists on my iPad for offline listening, but it's not a big deal as I don't listen to music on my iPad that much anyway, plus I have unlimited data on my iPad with AT&T so I can still stream music almost anywhere.

The only way I'm able to manage is Google Photos, Play Music, Play Movies, Netflix, Cinema Box, and Hangouts. I stream everything, and Hangouts because I never delete text messages, but by using Hangouts instead of standard texting, I don't have to and it only keeps recent texts stored on the iPad. Older ones have to be downloaded as you scroll. Standard text messages would pile up in GBs on my devices before.
