Here(-ish)
While I realize that the value of time as a commodity greatly differs from person to person, this is just something else:

I simply don't understand this. I have things to do with my life. It might make sense for a single person with lots of vacation but nowhere interesting to go (again, bizarre), and IF this were the only way to get one on launch day.

Myself? I'll set my alarm for 2:55AM, pull my phone over off the side table, preorder from my phone, turn it off and go back to sleep. I'll have my phone at roughly the same time as they will. (I do a MyChoice hold from UPS and pick it up at the hub on my way to work on launch days...usually have it by 8 AM). Even if the hold isn't possible, I might (oh my gosh!) have to wait until the evening to play with the new phone.

some like the excitement and interacting with others but comes with being on the news and poked fun on WTF they're doing by everyone posting it on social media. I never have or never will setup camp to get a phone. I've been lucky enough to receive all of mine (3GS, iP4, iP5 -got that one a day early & iP6) on launch day before 10:30AM thanks to FedEx. No need to miss work.

How do you get UPS to hold the package for you on the day of delivery ? Please ilaborate on this. I would love to go
this route as well.

People like this have either generous vacation time policies or they have no jobs. If I told my employer I wanted to take a weeks off to camp outside of a Apple Store he'd probably tell me don't bother coming back.
