I did that on my own mac, waited about 10 seconds (as I was typing it appeared), and ALOT of stuff appeared. Be patient, also! It asks for your password and ur password wont appear as you type for security reasons. (kinda like the *** thing accept it just doesn't appear)

I had the same thing happen

I was sitting in front of my MAC and my mouse began to move. It moved from about center screen down to the right corner, activating the screen saver. It did so in an irregular pattern - such as a human hand moving it - not a computer error where the mouse is floating freely because of some error in mouse sensors.

I have yet to find any cause - I have followed a lot of the recommended steps above. Firewalls on. Sharing is off. OS is upgraded. Admin is turned off. Etc. I have yet to see it again - but am assuming that the machine is compromised until I can figure out what is going on.

Why couldn't it just be a faulty mouse? Or bug ina driver? Or user error? Earlier today my mouse only accepted right clicks, didn't matter if I left clicked or right clicked, it only acted like I was just right clicking, I even logged off and on again, I thought there was something wrong with it .. then I noticed it was me, my arm sometimes just touching the ctrl key. People are soooo ready to jump to obscure and incredibly unlikely explanations when there are much more prosaic (but less exciting) ones to start with.

Did the mouse only move this one time? If so, as Tumbleweed666 said, it could be a mouse issue. I had a cheap generic mouse that would occasionally start moving off by itself every so often. A bit annoying. I've also had my Windows machine comprised through the use of VNC, which can allow a remote person so see and interact with your computer. It was a bit amusing watching them surf the net and download stuff, but I knew how to disable to problem since I setup the VNC so was able to keep the problem from happening again.

The Mac has VNC capabilities as well as Apple Remote Desktop (ARD). In the past there have been ARD vulnerabilities that malicious people could take advantage of, but I believe its been patched pretty well. Having the sharing options disabled should give you a reasonable amount of protection against this problem as well as making sure you're not running your account as admin.
