The exclusive Hermès watch faces are pretty cool as well.

Edit: also, all Edition Apple Watches come with a two-year warranty, rather than just one year. Combined with AppleCare+, you get three years of coverage.

Just curious what the deal is with the Hermes - never asked, always wondered.
In addition to the leather band as someone already mentioned, you also get the Hermes watch faces, which are very nice in my opinion. Also, the Space Black Stainless Steel model is only available this year with the Hermes. For me, I ordered the Hermes for all three reasons: the SBSS, the nice leather band, and the additional faces.

Hermes is for people with deep pockets and fashion statement. Otherwise, Ti is good enough if you wanted a "high end" AW. I bought the SBTi milanese band yesterday and comes with a dark grey sport band. So far so good. :)

thanks for asking the question, as I too never understood. apparently the watch buying community traditionally values the 'elite' brand. Its something I never considered would affect a product like the apple watch, as others above have pointed out, is a super finite product because of battery and evolving technology. I somewhat understand investing in a premium mechanical watch as a family heirloom, or life time product, but to pay premium for an Apple Watch Hermes edition that is theoretically inferior to a base Apple Watch the following year, is just kind of odd to me.

Once you have the Hermes band, you can keep using it with subsequent Apple Watch's, of course. (And you'll have the special Hermes watch faces in your app, too - I think).

Important Point - Just BE SURE to use the Hermes band ONLY with premium SS or Ti models. IF you try to attach the Hermes band to an Aluminum Apple Watch (particularly the Nike variant), it will self-destruct.

really? its a little bit psychology and a lot of genetics; humans as a species always need a way to showcase earning and providing potential ...

Also it comes with bands you can not buy separately so there's that. ;)

The premium price tag is for the bands. They’re hand stitched with reinforcement and the leather quality is some of the best money can buy. Buttery soft and lasts. I’m guessing those shunning it either can’t fit it in their budget or never actually experienced Hermes quality. Huge difference between Hermes leather and say Nomad leather.

Fashion and that is OK! Having a Hermes option is a hall mark of the freedom of choice. Sometime you just want high end because it pleases you. I like Gaggenau in my kitchen and is willing to pay the price despite no real benefit over than design and build.

Hermes Apple Watches are a pretty bad fashion statement honestly. It's the equivalent of buying a LV phone case (Hermes makes these too) but owning none of their other main products so I highly doubt they use their best materials on watch straps or cases. If you have money to buy a mainstream Hermes product (e.g. leather bag) then you probably aren't wearing an Apple watch with your wardrobe.

Definitely not true. My wife wears her Birkin with an Hermes Apple Watch because she wants what other watches don’t offer- fitness tracking, notifications, etc…

I wouldn’t exactly call Hermes mainstream. Have you ever tried to go into Hermes to purchase a Birkin? You do realize you need a purchase history and an invitation, right?

Flip side, for the cost of a Hermes version you could buy 2-3 new apple watches to replace the thing over those 3 years, with new models.

Thanks for the replies. I just wondered if it had anything else specific to it other than the bands and faces. I'd have no issue investing in a watch or item for that price (if I really wanted it), that had longevity, but I'd be sad when it was outdated tech-wise.

I think what makes them unique is the quality of the leather band, the Hermes orange sports band and the Hermes unique watch faces, which I think are really neat.

I wish once you buy one, that the Hermes watch faces you chose would carry to future Apple Watches, as I upgrade every year and would not want a Hermes Apple Watch every year.
