Someone make me a non-flash banner

ok, how about this?




I think this one is the best I have done so far, so unless there are objections, I think this will be the one I edit from now on....



I want feedback on: Text Colors, Background Colors, Background strength (for both the colors and the Helix separately), overall opinion, anything else....

I agree with the others...the colored backgrounds look much better.

cjc343 - The last one you just attached looks nice. It's simple but gets the point across. The colors seem fine, but the 'distributed computing' part is a bit hard to read. Maybe it should be bolded or something?

Good job cjc343, your making great strides. The gold should be made a little brighter. You should be very proud of yopurself! ;)

Where is it that we are going to be using this banner? I hope that we will be able to use it soon. :cool:

Can we put the MacRumors Logo to the left of the text tho?

The words distrubited computing do look a wee bit faded... so if you can make then darker or less transparent.

We are finally getting to the banner I wanted.

Well... I don't think many other people are going to use this, I mean for me, I only want this because I go to other Forums which allow pictures in your signature soo.


As far as I know its only going to be used for whoever wants it...


You can use any of them in this thread if you wish.



You might be thinking about the flash banners, to which I have no idea what is happening with them.

Thank you for the feedback, I have been gone all day and am tired so I might not finish until tomorrow, but I don't really know...

I will (try to) create at least two versions, one with the macrumors logo, and one without.

I will try to brighten the gold and thicken the "distributed computing" but it has the potential to be a little harder than I think it will be.

Anyone who wants can use any of the banners I posted for non-commercial purposes so long as they do not remove the "Custom Banner..." part in the lower right.
 
The Macrumors logo has been protected from a drag-and-drop or right-click copy method. Although I COULD still rip it, I am not going to do that without permission. Meanwhile, I will make the other banner and contact arn to ask permission to use the Macrumors logo.

it would be much easier to grab it from the macrumors page because then the background is a different color from the inside.. makes it much easier... but I am not going to use the logo unless I get permission from Arn, not just becuase it is protected, but becuase it would be the right thing to do.....



and plus, I could get sued for copyright infringment....

Great job cjc343, that is awesome! ;) Now to take advantage for advertising. Could you make something eye catching so that it would work in a signature. Such as the "wdlove's stats"? ;) :cool:

I'm confused.... I think you need to elaborate more on what you mean... add a frame of stats? New banner?

I'm sorry, I just need a better description of what you want to work off of.

Arn has the logo copyrighted one would suppose yes.


As please ask him if we can use it because I think its really what the banner is missing right now.

On top of that take the center (Gold folded arrows) and scroll them from left to right.

MrMacman is there a way that this could be incorporated for use in my signature? Or is is as easy as copy and paste. My thought is also on the alloted words in the signature.

Lemme see how I can make this simple aha:

MacRumors does not allow Images in your or my signature.


While this Forum is great, I fequent many other Forums which DO allow for you do have Images in your signature, is is what this banner is for.


Again, its for MacRumors Folding, just not MacRumors forums.

I also hope that arn will respond quickly. It would be awesome if he would allow an image.

If not, what I'm asking about is having a link to the banner. To develop a catchy phrase to put in the signature.
 
I don't know about a catchphrase... withing the macrumors forums, I would suggest just using text, instead of linking to an image.


also: I have been hosting the image for my use on www.zippyimages.com however, it appear as though they don't like the number of times that image is loaded daily (a few hundred... maybe a few thousand) and appear to have cut off all hotlinking to that image.... they also logged my IP so I am stuck until I can get it changed again... (I tried re-uploading the pic, but it still didn't work)

So, do any of you know of a good free place to host images that allows hotlinking and does NOT add any stuff to your picture?

I have also used uploadit, but they don't allow gifs in free accounts...

that file is 40 kb, it is not the full version but the quality has not decreased [edit: too significantly.... it is noticable... I can email the full version if you ask for it...]


Please do not link to that file, I do get a limited amount of bandwidth...


feel free to change the quality even more, but please host it yourself...
 
Is there someone willing to host the banner? After all it is for the good of disease research, folding, and MacRumors. ;)

Yeah yeah.

Its no problem, when we get the one with the MR logo in it, that will be the final one.


Then I'll host it on my own photobucket site and stuff... so no problem.
