naa, i'd like to avoid the three-piece front if possible :) but other than that it looks pretty okay. thanks for the quick response!

I placed an order for one using the 30% off code, so it came out to about $27 or so. I'll report back once I receive it. In the meantime, I picked up the Speck PixelSkin HD from Target.

I just found that with a search and ordered one within a minute of seeing it with the 30% discount on amazon. The material looks precisely what the ipad 1 case was made from and looks exactly like it except for that it folds in more places like the official smartcase. I don't really like how the smartcase folds because my toddler tends to not fold it back correctly when using it but since the material and everything else looks perfectly like the ipad 1 case I will use it.

I just got my yoobao (AYL) black case that looks beautiful and very slim but the magnet alignment issue (doesn't always turn off the display in the front and when folded back turns it off quite often is an issue). The glue smell is a slight issue for me after 3 days of use but I have a feeling it will go away in time. The hole cutouts and leather look of the case are perfect though which makes me want to hold on to the case and disable the magnet feature. I might just keep this case to use every once in awhile.

UPDATE: I just got my replacement (newest version) of AYL case and the magnet problem is gone now. They let me keep the old version 1 case which was really cool of them.

http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Genuine-Leather-Version-Generation/dp/B004WHI9L4 (fixed version and works perfectly)

I also have the white case from CAMSDIGITAL (DigiTech) in route for delivery. I really like the white look of it and hope it's magnet feature works unlike the yoobao case.

UPDATE: This white case from CAMSDIGITAL has the magnet problems that the old revision 1 AYL case had. When you flip the cover back so that it is flat against the back of the ipad it turns off the screen :/. Returned it.

If the picture below is accurate, it has the same problem as the Griffin Slim: The light sensor is blocked. I'm also not a big fan of the segmented front cover (the original Apple design with the two-piece cover was sturdier).

It may sound strange, but the lack of a case for the iPad 2 that mimics the official iPad 1 case is what finally tipped me into keeping hold of my iPad 1 rather than change for the iPad 2:
I absolutely love the official iPad 1 case - I tried several cases before I settled on it (including leather ones and an Otterbox Defender) and when I finally got one it was like having a new iPad - it fits beautifully, protects it perfectly and it cleans up really easily (even if it does get grubby a bit quickly, a quick wipe with a dry cloth has it looking like new again)
On top of that it weighs next to nothing, adds virtually no bulk and makes the iPad dead easy to carry

wow. you held on for the case. i think i understand this - because i liked that simple case so much...

Been using my iPad 1 last night - fell in love with the original case once more. it's plain perfect. at least for me that is of course. i wonder why there isn't anyone who's producing a 1:1 imitation of it. just change NOTHING please - come on, that can't be too hard to do...

Same here. I have to say I have had my iPad 2 now for 3-4 weeks and I like it, no doubt, but I have regrets compared to my iPad 1. I suppose I like the new "thin" form but it doesn't really feel that big of a difference and I have to baby the darn thing more since I have the Smart Cover (and a slip cover for the whole thing when I travel) compared to what I thought was an outstanding Apple Case that was an all in one solution for me. Combine that "dainty" feeling to the new iPad 2 with very infrequent use of the new cameras and most of the new speed being untapped by the current iOS and 3rd party apps and it almost feels like I moved a bit backwards.

I think my purchase will be rewarded when iOS 5.0 comes out this fall and what I hope will be an inevitable iPad 1 case clone arrives.

Have you checked the other thread about this case? It's pretty active. I got mine yesterday and will post a review to that thread sometime this weekend.

Do you have a link to that one? Having trouble finding it.

I had the Griffin Elan Folio Slim for the iPad2, but it got loose after a few weeks. Did anyone ever make a true iPad1-like case for the iPad2? As far as I'm concerned, that iPad1 case was the best combination of protection, size, and functionality.

I am looking forward to the newest design of iPad 2 case for giving my iPad a new look, how about cath kidston iPad 2 case? Who can give me more details about this case?

What changes need to be made to the iPad 1 original cover?

Aside from cutting out a hole for the camera?

Thanks.
