Someone with a Late 2009 White MacBook (MacBook6,1) - Please try this Safari test

It definitely has something to do with the NVIDIA drivers and this specific graphics card.
The glitch happens on 90% of the videos on www.9gag.com for example, it's a nice way to test it out quickly.

Hey everyone,
long time lurker and first post here :)

Since i had SO many issues with High Sierra in combination with my MacBook 6,1, i recently downgraded to Sierra again and everything finally works like a charm again. These random video bugs and glitches were one of the many reasons why i went back to 10.12.

Out of boredom and curiosity I installed High Sierra 10.13.5 on an external HDD the other day and looked for video glitches again … At least for me, they are still there.

So my question is: has anyone of you tested the 10.13.6 Developer or Public Beta and checked for these annoying video issues? I just can't believe that this is still not fixed yet!

Many thanks in advance to you all. :)

Ok, so i actually registered for Apple's Beta Software Program and installed the 10.13.6 Public Beta 2 for myself …
the video bugs and glitches for certain video files are still present, both in Safari and QuickTime X / QuickLook. Especially screen recordings made with QT X don't work at all for me. So frustrating.

Edit: The funny thing is that at first, the videos in question play fine (in QT X and via QL) and then they suddenly start becoming glitchy … ??

So basically, this will never be fixed. Apple's only chosen solution is to release 10.14 Mojave, which kills off support for this class of GPUs completely. :(

I tried on my iMac 9.1 with the developer beta 10.13.6 the video was garbled for me as well

Thank you, TimothyR734, for testing this as well!

Quick Update: Just tested on 10.13.6 Public Beta 3 and again … no changes for the better. No surprise to me at all but still frustrating.

Ok, some news, good and bad … the final version of High Sierra 10.13.6 didn't make any difference for me …
BUT: I just installed the Mojave Public Beta 2 on my MacBook (well, onto an external drive actually) thanks to the Mojave Patcher.

And: Both the iPhone X website and my videos and screen recordings I had issues with work totally fine under Mojave :) They work in QuickLook, Quicktime X and other players like IINA. And another annoying QuickLook bug that caused video preview windows to get bigger and bigger when selecting and comparing two files got fixed as well (did you guys have that, too?) There is hope :)

Interesting. How well does Mojave work? Does UI acceleration work? I haven’t been following that thread recently.

Ah I see. I checked that thread and apparently Mojave works with UI acceleration now but with some UI graphics glitches. I’ll have to try it out sometime.

Confirmed. The X works fine on MacBook5,1 and MacBookPro5,5 too.
