Yup, my old iPhone 6 (which still works fine, if a bit sluggish) is just below the spec for the iPhone 7, which I believe safari can access the Apple Store.
i.e. when I go into the apple store with an iPhone 6 (latest firmware allowed) it's all blank and mixed - so impossible to update. I tried chrome but the same problem. Looks like I will have to go "non-apple" and use my PC to buy my new iPhone 15 pro max, and have to wait until I get home :(

It has been weeks since you decided to upgrade from a 2014 iPhone 6 to a 2023 iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Could you give us your impression of jumping onto a new phone 9 years more advanced?

My iPhone 6s Plus is in drawer which I haven't used for ages. Sadly apple stopped support for this device, so it doesn't have any vintage value, as I cannot trade it for an iPhone 15 Pro Max

Makes me wish I sold all my old devices whether they be Betamax, casette tape, LaserDisc, CRT TVs/monitors once I upgraded.

I can sell it at scrap price. But I would rather keep that piece of museum instead of selling it for scrap
If one waits too long it becomes scrap price.

Like if we sold the 1988 Pioneer CLD-3030 LaserDisc player in 2001 when we got the 2000 PlayStation 2 as a DVD player. We would have gotten something for it.

Follows for the 📱2G, 3Gs, 4s & 5s... sell em once the upgrade was received.

More space at home. Less need to have a big event garage sale. Incremental sell offs.

The buy section of the Apple website is blank for any product on my iPhone Xʀ on iOS 12.

99% of my issues with running older versions would be solved by Apple allowing standalone Safari updates...

It’s the most annoying part. I can circumvent it by using other devices, of course. But... my 2015 MacBook Pro running the iOS 9 equivalent (OS X El Capitan) can download the latest, flawless version of Firefox. Safari’s latest version (a 2018 version), is awful, but who cares? Sadly, there’s no such workaround for iOS.

iPhone 6 is nine years old. Apple probably assumed you defected to Android or just don't care. 😄

Why not install Firefox for iPhone?

iOS is different than the Mac in respect to web browsers. On iOS, a browser is required to run on WebKit. All the browsers then have the same ‘engine’. Problem is... WebKit is tied into the OS and when the OS is discontinued, so will be any browser that runs on it eventually. It can’t be updated.
