Let me preface this with the fact that I have been a long time Android user, dating back to the original Droid. I have strayed from time to time (iPhone 4 and 4s, as well as a couple blackberries and the lumia 900). Anyway, something I've noticed on each respective forums is that the iPhone crowd is absolutely top notch. I see a lot less bitching and fanboyism on the Apple side than I do with Android and especially the blackberry side. I just left the Note 2 for the iPhone 5, so I've been saturating my brain on this site for the last week or so, and I must say that I have been impressed with the level of maturity and genuine help being offered here. With Android, all I see is people trying to impress others with their knowledge, or who can be the biggest smartass. With Blackberry, it is just infuriating to see the level of fanboyism they have...they are THE WORST by far when it comes to sticking their head in the sand and turning off the common sense meter.

Anyway, please keep it up...I'm sure I'll have some questions at some point. Awesome phone by the way...I jailbroke it on day one and have yet to find anything it won't do compared to my Android...and I've found a few things it will do that I couldn't with the almighty Note 2.

Really. There are fanboys everywhere, this site included.

I would argue that there are more diehard apple fanboys than Android... only b/c there were hipster apple fans BEFORE the iPhone and the iPhone just gave them more fodder

When I was diehard Android, I must say that Apple fanboys did bother me quite a bit. My brother (now an iPhone convert) and I would joke on some of the stuff that we would read on websites etc. However, I just don't see this as much...I think it may have to do with Apple being humbled a bit by Android, but that's just a guess. Either way, I like the fact that people on here get along for the most part and keep threads on point vs. getting off on tangents. It was funny, I would go to a thread on XDA and see there were 30-40 pages, so I would skip to the last page. Almost without fail, the last 15 pages would be filled with hateful back and forth dick measuring. Just seems to be a more mature group over here that are actually interested in finding out about their phone instead of proving a point over the internet.

I find this site the complete opposite. Any time anyone on this forum has something negative about Apple or the iPhone they get trashed for it. I have seen some really good post on androidforums.com with people that love android and people that love Apple. I find it hard on macrumors to post a new topic without at least one Apple fanboy to give a smart#%* comment to your post. Just yesterday I just simply ask do we think we could deal with not have our iPhone. I said things had changed and kids have lost some social skills, and some Apple fanboy want to start an argument with me. He wanted facts to prove that kids are losing social skills. I did not right the post in way that would start an argument I just wanted opinions and he could not even handle himself. Just wait until you ask a question that they think is stupid and see what happens.

This might have something to do with it. If you're going to post something as factual, not just your opinion, you need to be able to back it up with sources.

You couldn't be more wrong.

There are so many blind "sheeple" that use apple products and will defend apple to their death.

I would argue that there are more diehard apple fanboys than Android... only b/c there were hipster apple fans BEFORE the iPhone and the iPhone just gave them more fodder

And I'm so glad you joined this discussion with such riveting and useful posts.

Did you go on my post and read it? If you had of then maybe you would have seen that I did not start a debate. Everything was going just fine until this member started arguing with me. All I state was that I "think" kids are become less social. It was my opinion and I was not even posting at this guy. I don't need source to say my opinion.

Seriously!!

People on here are like none other. They will try to pick a fight with you for NO REASON... they'll defend apple into the ground. Look at this post I stumbled upon:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/16835394/

A "yellowish" screen isn't a fault. Different LCDs have different colour temperatures. If you can show me where Apple says what colour temperature the iPhones LCD is, fair enough

A rattling home button - please show me where apple publishes the noise limit of the home button. They don't. If the home button works, it's not a fault

Are you kidding me?

Yes I did read the thread, yesterday before I even read this thread. No where in your posts did you say you "think" these things are true. You implied because you saw it happening around you, that it must also be happening everywhere. Which is why he asked for a source. I don't want to derail this thread so I won't post anymore on this topic here. Just know that it's not a "fanboy" attacking you. It's someone who is looking for sources to back up your claims to see if what you stated is true or not.

Quotes from you in that thread:
The kids now that are in their teens are what really scare me. When I was in middle school and hight school have a cell phone at that age was unheard of. I can remember cell phones not even being around much less smart phones. Kids are losing social skills because they rely on smartphones too much. I am going to do the same thing my parents did with me with my kids. They will not get a cell phone until they can drive and they have to help pay the bill.

I not sure that I have any kind of number I was just saying instead of calling a friend or talking to them in person kids text or send a Facebook message. It kind of makes kids think if something is too hard to say in person they can just text so they don't have to say it in person. I have no numbers to back this up I just see it happening.

I would agree with most of what you are saying, but us adults did grow up without cell phones at all. Kids that are growing up now depend on cell phones cause that's all they know. Sure technology has changed and communication has gone down ever time, but I am just saying looking back on the last 10-15 years things have really changed. I know I would rather send a text message than call or talk to someone in person. When I was in college if you wanted to talk to someone you either called them and had to talk to them in person. Now college students if they don't want to talk to someone will just send a text message. It gets worse over the years because more and more parents just want to pacify their kids and just hand them a smartphone. I see this happen all the time.

Heres something from 2008 but still relevant:

Happy now?

EDIT: OR, you could go talk to a teenager or two and get some first-hand sources

Yep! Just say Apple and then something negative that is most of the time true and watch.

It's my experience that you don't even really have to say apple and/or anything negative about them, it will just happen. There are a few (won't name names) that I've noticed do it over and over and over... just have a negative connotation about every post.

You are just making my point for me. Was there any need for him to post his first comment? Not at all. We were having a friendly thread before he posted. No one else cared, and knew that I was giving my opinion. He had to post and be a smart#€*, and there was no reason for it. Just like there is no reason for you to back them up.

I know. You should check out my thread about living without a iphone. I said nothing that would bring up an argument and he just made the thread run off the tracks for no reason. It happens on every single thread I see. Someone has to be a jerk. That is what I can not stand about Apple fanboy.

There was another thread about a guy getting denied a warranty claim and not two post in someone was saying Apple did the right thing and we need pic before we believe you. Just people being rude.

Good lord guys, I'm not saying the site is perfect. Of course you can scrounge around and find posts that directly counter what I've just said. However, having been a heavy user on XDA/Crackberry, I can assure you with 100% accuracy that this site is head and shoulders better for mature, thought out conversations pertaining to our phones.

That's just the thing... the things we're citing are on the FIRST PAGE of the forums... it's not like we're doing searches to find examples.

No offense to you but judging by your join date you're new. We'll see how your opinion morphs over the next few months.

Really please enlighten me. Cause asking people if they think they can live without their iPhones including myself does not seem like a subject that would start and argument.

Every single question you pose on here will start an argument. :D

When I was on crackberry on I guess back in like 2008 it really was not that bad. They would hate on the iphone a little, but nothing compared to this. Honestly find me a post that does not have a smart$&@ comment in?

There is massive fanboyism and mini wars on here as well lol. But the thing I love about MacRumors and other Apple forums is that there's actually stuff going on in them. Android forums for a product are busy up until the product is released, and then for a couple weeks afterward. After that it becomes almost like a barren wasteland.

Android.com may not have them, but a slew of other Android based sites do x10. Not defending other, or bashing you. But the Fandroids out there are just as bad with the fanboyisms. It will never change...

Oh that is true. I just find more hate on macrumors than I ever did on androidforums.com. I would see post from Apple users all the time me being one of them and hardly ever got crap. Here if I say one thing good about Android there are 10 people that give me crap. Apple just has more loyal followers.

That's funny, because my experience is completely opposite. Not sure what android forums you were on but I have not experienced what you describe.

Something I've noticed coming from Android are trolls registering on sites like MR for the sole purpose of annoying others. I bet that happens a whole lot less the other way around.

True. Probably because after a month or so their device is already outdated by a newer version about to release.

Gee, what a surprise.

Your funny. You make me smile, I see your a newer member here.

So you are saying I bought a macbook pro, and iphone, iphone 3g, iphone 3gs, iphone 4 iphone 4s, and ipad, ipad 2, ipad 3, and a macbook air and have been a contributing member since 2008 just so I can come here and as you say "troll" or as I might say "have a differing opinion, and state it calmly and cogently". You caught me, I have spent over $10,000.00 on apple products so I can come on here and make comments.

I find your statement much like the statements of someone in a cult when they are shown the truth, in stead of being able to defend an obvious lie, they just attack anyone who disagrees with derogatory names.

Great job, in proving my point to be true!

Your failed attempt to be insulting towards me, has proven my point about the OP statement being the opposite of what I have experienced, I find there to be much less personal attacks on the sndoid sites I visit, even when you have a differing oppinion. lol

Relax dude, I'm not calling you anything. The first part of my post isn't directed at you. I can't help it that MR sews posts together that are less than five minutes apart, and frankly, I'm surprised that you take offense so easily.

I'm just implying that you're a pretty negative fellow. And that has nothing to do with you showing people your thruth.
